Cascade went to the no-huddle offense to score two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to go up 16-0 in the first inning against Boyd Christian in Wartrace on Tuesday afternoon.

A couple more trips to paydirt did the trick and the Champions walked off the diamond with a 24-1 win over the Broncos in the first part of a doubleheader against the District 9-A foes.

Tyler Bowen singled twice, doubled, stole three bases and scored four runs to guide the hit safari for Cascade. Corey Mullins tripled, singled and touched home three times. Jay Bishop had two singles, two stolen bases and three runs. Chase Nunley contributed a pair of base knocks.

"We tried to be patient and make the pitchers throw strikes; when they did we did a pretty good job of hitting the baseball where it was pitched," Champion coach Chris Parker said. "We were able to be aggressive on the bases and make some things happen. Sometimes we were too aggressive, but we were able to do a pretty good job overall offensively today."

As good a game as the Cascade offense had, pitcher Josh Brown was equally as productive, carrying a perfect game into the fourth inning. Boyd Christian's Dylan Fernandez doubled and scored to ruin the bid for perfection, a no-hitter and a shutout.

Brown needed but 49 pitches in four innings to get the win. He struck out four and walked one. Zack Hill worked a hitless fifth to close the door.

Cascade 12, Boyd Christian 2: If it's possible to be dissatisfied with a run-ruled district win, this was the game for the Champs. An uncanny amount of baserunning mistakes left the coaches and the faithful wondering if confused seeing eye dogs were leading them around the bases.

"That's a big part of our game," Parker said of his aggressive style on the basepaths. "We've got a lot of team speed, and we're trying to put pressure on our opponents any way we can. We've just got to be smarter. We'll go back to practice tomorrow and we'll work on some of those things."

Nevertheless, Cascade (17-3, 9-1) scored in four of their five trips to the dish and Mullins got the Broncos back on the bus to McMinnville early with a two-run walk-off triple with one down in the fifth. The senior center fielder also singled twice and stole a pair of bases. Nick Batts added a pair of singles.

Blake Harvey started on the hill and picked up the win. Casey Myers was the losing pitcher.

Due to rain back in mid-March, this year's version of the Dirty Ball Classic has been tinkered down to a one-game, winner-takes-all affair between Cascade and Cornersville. The former district rivals face off on Thursday night at 7.

"Coach (Brent) Adcox has always got a bunch of boys that play hard," Parker said. "This year they've got talent and a real good pitcher. They're fighting for a district title just like we are. They're going to come over here and give us a ballgame."

The first out in each half of the first inning must be recorded by each team's dirtiest ball in their bucket. Also, they'll swap out the aluminum bats for the wood and neither team can throw their No. 1 or 2 pitcher for more than one inning.

Schedule change: Cascade was forced to cancel games versus Webb on Friday and Chattanooga Arts & Sciences on April 26.
