An off-duty officer said he saw a car drive under Veterans Memorial Bridge near Fisherman's Park in downtown Shelbyville, then smelled a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle a few minutes later.
Ricky Joe Freeman, 29, Martha Street, who police said was driving the car, allegedly denied smoking anything, then admitted using marijuana after a vehicle search was requested.
Freeman told officers marijuana was in the car's console; they said they recovered approximately 7.5 grams and three roaches.
Charges of driving on a revoked/suspended license and possession of a schedule VI drug were filed against Freeman, who was released on $1,000 bond at Bedford County Jail.
