His Lady Feet had just earned their first win of the season, rallying for one of the most improbable comeback victories in recent memory.
The hosts were down 11-4 to visiting East/Middle Region rival St. Andrew's-Sewanee heading to the bottom of the seventh when things looked bleak at best.
However, Webb got off the deck and exploded for seven runs to force extra innings and then Ashley Knotts' two-out RBI single in the eighth plated Jesse Robinson to finish off the unbelievable 12-11 come-from-behind win.
"We hadn't won a game and to do it in a region game against St. Andrew's with a lot of eighth graders stepping up was huge," Garcia said. "It seems like everybody stepped up and made a play somewhere."
The Lady Feet, who held a short-lived 2-1 advantage after four frames, seemed to let things slip away in the fifth as the Mountain Lions used four consecutive run-scoring singles to tally five runs and take a commanding 6-2 lead.
Following two Webb runs in the sixth to draw within 6-4, SAS took advantage of several Lady Feet errors to eventually score five key runs to seize the seven-run cushion.
"In the top of the seventh, it was very frustrating because I felt like we were making errors and throwing the ball all around," Garcia said. "We're better than that and we really have to improve on that, but this is a good group of girls and they do work really hard."
Using defensive errors combined with several crucial hits and intelligent baserunning, the Lady Feet managed three runs before an out was record in their half of the seventh. Later, the home team finally tied it at 11-all with a clutch two-run single by Alison Pruter to right field with two outs.
"Their pitcher kind of lost it a little bit, and all I told the girls was to put the ball in play and see what happens," Garcia said. "You have to make plays and that's the name of the game, but I am proud of them. Sometimes you get caught up in wins and losses, but really it's great to coach good kids."
Webb (1-8) heads to Nashville to hook up with region foe Davidson Academy on Tuesday afternoon.
