A big bang at the Fire Academy

Friday, April 25, 2008

If you think you hear explosions around Bedford County next week, there isn't anything to be worried about.

"Post blast training" is to be conducted at the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA) on Unionville-Deason Road by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) next week for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in preparation for possible deployment.

According to a press release from the Academy, the training will provide the ground work necessary for concise and safe post-blast investigations.

"Participants will gain knowledge on responding to explosive incidents and proper evidence collection at bomb scenes. Overall, the training will help participants determine what happened at a scene and ultimately who is responsible for criminal acts or a terrorist event."

Also taking place will be classroom lectures and hands-on post-blast training which are necessary components of the specialized training.

"Our military personnel are the first line of defense," stated TFACA Executive Director Roger Hawks. "We are proud to be of service to the U.S. Military in its pursuit to keep not only themselves safe but to protect our Homeland as well."

The training will take place April 28 -- May 1, with an explosive demonstration taking place on Tuesday for the media.

The Army's CID conducts all felony-level investigations of Army interest worldwide and will use the training gained from the post-blast course for investigations conducted in the United States as well as overseas.

The ATF enforces federal laws and regulations relating to alcohol, tobacco, firearms, explosives and arson and makes a contribution to the country's efforts against terrorism.

Wow. What a way to show maturity. Opinions are nice, but high school drama? Whew...

thats telling him mike molder, i love it when people slam others with fact{and can back it it}

unlike billybob, i took it as scennermanner is on your side. seems in past comments, he has issues with the 911 center, just as you do with the academy, both of you appear to state the facts and have very good arguements

maybe it want feel like an earthquake

First, I'll address billybob (fitting name!) Although you are trying really hard to make me out the bad guy, anyone with common sense would see through your ignorant accusations. When things are vibrating in your house from the ground shaking, I have no doubt even the cheapest video camera can detect that. Also a pre-blast shot and a post blast shot can do a good job of displaying damage. You can go ahead and spend the money for your seismometer. I'll give the camera a try first.

Second, if people stop driving those "Japanese cars" there will be a whole lot of people in middle Tennessee who will be out of work. The economic impact it would have on middle Tennessee is mind boggling! Probably not a concern of yours apparently, but it is to most around here.

Third, I have no idea what my father's profession has to do with this discussion, but you need to educate yourself a little more about my family before you start running your mouth off! My father has been a hard-working farmer for 50 years and usually works from sun up to sun down "running his farm." Unless him or my mother is an illegal immigrant then that statement is about as stupid as everything else you spouted off at the mouth about. There isn't a harder working man around that I'm aware of and he has worked hard all his life for what he has. Unless you're prepared to come out from behind that screename, I'd suggest you leave my family out of this discussion!

Lastly, since you're such a patriotic American, perhaps you could leave Mr. Hawks your home address and give him the okay to set these huge charges off in your backyard. I'm sure those of us close to the academy would appreciate it.

Scannermanner,

I never said I called 911. I called the Sheriff's Office and they are the ones who verified the Blast was coming from the fire academy. I do not call 911 unless I have a medical EMERGENCY.

Gosh. I live near Blankenship Church on Midland and I feel the explosions b4 I hear them.

I've questioned people I know who lived next door to the Fire School but they've only had positive things to say about it.

Funny thing, they've moved.....

-- Posted by mmp84 on Sat, Apr 26, 2008, at 8:57 AM

how can he prove the earth is moving? humm thats a good question. well if the "bang" is as big as i am sure it is, there will probably be things falling off the wall. oh wait!! there is someone he can contact that might help. he likes to shake things up too!! Andy Cordan of News 2's THATS MESSED UP!! he may just come out and do a story on it. he may be able to lay his hands on the right equipment. here ya go Mike,, acordan@wkrn.comū, maybe that will help you

now as far as the chickens, i never said Mike Molder had chickens, its his father{who i persanally know}. he does not use illegals. there are still people that are in the business to make a honest living. don't hold what others do or even what Tyson's does, against him.

as for the academy training the fire fighters. have you seen the price of those classes. a fire fighter from nashville can take a class there and a VOLUNTEER can take a class there, but they pay the same, nashville pays for thier firefighter and the VOLUMTEER pays for thier own.so i will just about guarantee you there will be a VOLUNTEER will be the first one at Mr Molders house first. yes the academy trains many fire fighters as long as they can pay for it

Hummm, I sure hope there is no real emergency in the area of the fire academy. People may hear a loud explosion and think its just over at the academy. It would be a shame if someone was doing something in their shop and they had an explosion and no one called for help. Maybe the simple answer would be, anytime someone hears an explosion, CALL 911. I mean seriously, can you be positive it was at the fire academy?? There used to be a guy that would fire a canon off at New Years and you could hear that for miles. So if there is any doubt at all what the explosion was or where it came from, be sure to call 911!! That goes for you too Mike Molder, maybe the attention will help your cause.

Oh don't worry about bothering those 911 dispatchers, it will be during the day and I usually 3 or more voices, on the scanner, dispatching. You can listen to the city police department dispatchers dispatch many calls of shots fired around the 4th of July and New Years, and there is only one of them on duty. I am sure there will be extra officers in the area of the fire academy to investigate every call just to be sure.

Now, you maybe thinking, "I don't want too tie up a 911 line for that". I don't blame you, someone may have a real emergency, so I have took the liberty to find 2 non-emergency numbers for you. You can call 931-684-3411 or 931-684-1530. Those numbers should get you the help you need. The keyword here is SHOULD. So everyone do your part to make sure everyone is safe.

Good idea on the camera, how are you going to determine how big the blasts are? By the amount that your camera shakes! I'm glad to see we've got a couple of real scholars keeping up on the latest news. One that can't spell, and another that thinks he can record the earth's movements with a camera. Let me save you some time on your big project, buy a Seismometer, you know. Those things they show on TV when the ground shakes in California and they make those little squiggly lines or you might want to build yourself one out in the barn. Just do a Google search for seismometer, "make sure" you spell it right or you'll go to a site that might scare your chickens or maybe get them excited. It's amazing that the people that complain the most are the ones that expect help first. You should be grateful that there are people like Mr. Hawks, and places like TFACA, training our emergency services people of Tennessee. Remember your comments next time our country is attacked or you have an emergency. Guess who will be the first ones at you home to protect you and your chickens. Yep, your right! Those same people setting off those blasts and putting out fires. It seems like most of the people that are not for progress are the same people driving Japanese cars and hiring illegal's to run their farms. I hope the two of you don't fit in those categories. Your complaints are almost as valid as me not liking the smell of your chickens every time the wind blows to the north.

Go get them Mike Molder.. I also hope that your video and camera will help..But they can always get out of anything...Keep us up-dated if you can...

well i understand your feelings mr. molder. its funny how this is for the United States and they chose this area out of the whole country. a few years back i rode thru the Mojave Desert and did not see a house for miles. since there is already a war going on in a desert, wouldn't the Mojave be the ideal spot. i think yout father has seveaal chicken barns near that same area. i have been in some chicken barns before, i had to stay quiet not to startel them. how would the state pay for 500,000+ chickens??

the video camera is a great idea. but, we all know how the government works, so i wish you the best

This REALLY ticks me off! My foundation is now cracked and my house has shifted due to these idiots doing this crap in the past! The charges they set off are unreal! I appreciate the heads up this time! I called police the last time because they were shaking the windows and shelves in my house with these charges. I will document all the damage this time through photographs and will have a video camera running. Any damage done to my house this time WILL be paid for by Mr. Hawks and his associates! I have no doubt there are more remote locations where this "training" can be done! I support my military and am thankful for them, but an alternate site needs to be found that will not damage peoples homes. Trust me, I am not alone in this.

You have been warned in advance Mr Hawk. Let them come and set these charges off next to your home! You will be named in the lawsuit if I incurr any further damage!
