Thief enters home, departs with $8

Monday, April 28, 2008
A home on Kingdom Road in northern Bedford County was entered while the occupants were in bed early Friday morning.

Only $8 was taken from one room, according to a report filed by Cpl. Kent Jacobs of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department.

The screen was torn from a front window to gain entry.

One of the occupants said she heard dogs barking outside but a dog inside the home remained quiet.

*Two television sets, a DVD player, VCR player, computer system, two Playstation IIs, DVD videos, jewelry and a Thomas Kinkaid picture of horses were stolen between April 16 and Wednesday from a Justice Hollow Road home.

Deputy L.J. Puckett said children's clothing and other items had been thrown into a pile and burned.

Entry was gained by pushing an air conditioner from a window.

Tanning bed found

A Sun Deck Wolf tanning bed was dumped in a field off Rich Lane in northern Shelbyville late Thursday night, police said.

A witness told police saw a black, late model Ford truck speeding away.

Officers suspect the bed was stolen.

This sounds more like a child, possibly one of their childrens friends. I wonder if the room the $8.00 was in was a childs room. Perhaps this person (child) was over their playing and knew the $8.00 was their, and decided to come back that night to get it. Maybe that is why the dog inside the house did not bark, because he knew who it was. That's what it sounds like to me.

I agree with you, countryliving. I don't care if it was a dollar...it didn't belong to the thief so people should be careful about what they say. Be considerate of others feelings! If you didn't have any food and all you had was $8, how would it feel to get if stolen? What if you had a baby that needed diapers and that money was for that?

$8 is gold to some individuals. And the attitude of people now is - what is yours is theirs. If these individuals had woken while the thief was in their home things could have been a lot worse. However, I'm sure it seems like comical reading to some.
