William Howard Cooper, 81, Possom Trot Road, died about 9:15 a.m. at the scene on Sandusky Road shortly after the impact drove the passenger side of the truck in which he was riding into a guard rail.
The driver of the small Nissan truck, Jackie Crosslin, 65, Adams Lane, Bell Buckle, was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Crosslin was released from VUMC and returned home today.
The truck was struck head-on by a large pickup driven by Lisa Marie Ruth, 43, Highway 130 West, who did not suffer serious injury.
The collision occurred at a mild curve near a bridge over a small stream. The impact from the large Ruth truck, which was pulling an empty horse trailer, pushed the smaller Crosslin truck into the end of a guard rail directly into the passenger side door of the truck. Cooper was pinned in for some time.
