Robert "Bobby" Brown, 69, U.S. 41-A North, Unionville, died a few minutes after the mid-afternoon accident. A LifeFlight helicopter was en route to Bedford County Medical Center but Brown was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Kimery Wayne Hill, 28, of another U.S. 41-A North address, allegedly sped from the scene and was arrested a few minutes later at his sister's home on Old Unionville Road.
Hill is charged with one count of vehicular homicide, five counts of reckless endangerment and one count of second offense driving on a suspended license. Bond is set at $127,000.

Brown was actually hit by a truck driven by Timothy A. McGehee, 43, of Tullahoma, after it was struck by the Hill car. No charges have been filed against McGehee, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to BCMC for treatment.
Investigators said Brown was standing near the shoulder of the highway near a large, parked Lowe's truck. The driver, Walter R. Mullins, 58, of Tullahoma, was preparing to unload shingles.
"The Hill and McGehee vehicles were southbound," State Trooper Chad McAnally said. "Hill attempted to pass McGehee and struck the rear of McGehee's truck. The McGehee truck struck the front of the Lowe's truck, then spun around and struck Mr. Brown."
Brown was thrown 20-30 yards from the point of impact. A retired electrician, Brown was employed at Lowe's; Mullins said he was acquainted with Brown through that connection.
Hill's 3-year-old daughter, a passenger in the car, was not injured.
The speeding Hill car was spotted moments before the accident by Deputy Tracey Harvey, who said she had turned around and was attempting to notify other officers when the impact occurred.
Authorities were notified almost immediately where Hill had driven. The 1991 Acura Legend was found parked in a field with the smashed front end next to a fence row. Officers said they suspected the car had been intentionally parked in that location in an attempt to hide damage.

First off this is the real story!!! Im kimery's little sister and I dont know who has started the rumors that my brother was under the influence but the results came back and he was not. And furthermore Kimery did not "RUN" he had my 3 yr old niece in the car and he didnt want her to be scared for the rest of her life by having to see a dead man in a ditch and daddy going to jail while she had to wait with a complete stranger for mommy to come get her.Kimery is a great dad and Rylie misses her daddy very much. Our family is going through a lot right now as well and I do send out my sorrys for their family as well I know they are going through more than us seeing as they lost a loved one and we can see ours every week but I only wish yall can stop bashing him. It's not like he woke up that day saying"Oh I think I will kill a man today." And as for Kimery's childhood you have no idea what went on and that has NOTHING to do with what has happened so stop judging him when you need to be looking in the mirror picking at your flaws and not his.
The visitation for Bobby had people lined up around the building to go in to pay their RESPECT for Bobby and his family. I would venture to say they weren't standing in line to debate the problems of Bedford County. If they did then shame on them. I don't believe one man's untimely passing should be used to get on a soap box and further another one's own agenda. I had hoped Bobby's family and friends would be able to read the comments on this page and take some comfort in the words. Now my hope is that the newspaper will remove this page. Wouldn't it be nice to replace it with a page where people could only comment on all their wonderful memories of a wonderful man? Then possibly the loved ones could print it out to keep to read from time to time. I look at this page everyday to read comments about Bobby and his family, but instead I have to sort through all the DISRESPECT. Maybe we should all stop and take a look at ourselves and ask "What's really important in life?" I can only imagine at what the different answers would be.

Have we forgotten who or what this story was about.I man lost his life.Save your arguing for another day and a different story please.
JustunJust... if you can't prove what you "have just typed", then it would be a good idea for you to not belittle people when you don't know what you are talking about --- but apparently you are very confident in what you have to say and THINK you know a lot about who does/says what --

FYI:
There is such a place on here also.At the very top of the comment area.It states this....Comments
The nature of the Internet makes it impractical for our staff to review every comment. If you feel that a comment is offensive, use the exclamation point icon beside the comment to send a report to the webmaster.
Well I suppose I should speak up, since my name was mention here. I don't think there has been a comment posted by my name in quite a while. But it appears that JUSTUNJUST wants to drag me into this particular post.
Yes, that is 100% correct; I was fired by Director Mathis and her Board of Directors. I openly stated that in comments in the past months. And if you remember correctly, I thanked her for that. So, I want to openly thank her again. Since gas is $3.50/gal she has saved me approx. $250 a month in gas, since now I don't have to drive to town everyday.
Now, you want to address past and present comments. You see, it appears every time someone brings up the Com Center. JUSTUNJUST, JUSTHANGINTN, or SOMEONECARES go on the defensive at some point and time {talking about similarities}. BUT if these same researchers, that JUSTUNJUST spoke of, would go back and check my statements, that EVERYTIME someone threw out some facts with specifics, NOONE responded to challenge it. I mean no one from the Com Center even spoke up. They were even challenged to respond. And again there was silence.
I was at the Brown's tragedy; I saw what appeared to be too many units there also. I will speak on the side of the fire department; we are now training fire fighters to get units back to the station ASAP, so we can conserve fuel, which in turn saves the County money.
Now justunjust, this is not the place to BASH my family. Some to which has never posted a comment on here. When ir come to my DADDY not being able to do anything about my being fired, well now, you couldn't be no farther from the truth there. He has been there and supported me from the beginning, but what he says to or about other people is his feelings and he will express them anyway he likes. Also, when I state what I have about the Com Center, I am darn sure of myself, and I am willing to back it up, and when I am wrong I will say I am wrong. As I have said before, I sat in that dispatch chair for 7 years and I have seen the dirty and unfair treatment of employees, so again, if my statements or anyone else's are wrong, then prove it. Otherwise SHUT UP!!!
I will say the Com Center is getting a little better. They have dispatchers there now that have not even been there for 2 years and they can dispatch circles around their own trainers that have been there 4-5 years.
Last but not least, I knew the Brown family and my prayers go with them. They are good people. Jo Ann and Troy are strong and they will pull thru this. I know the fate of Mr. Hill in the courts hands now. I just hope justice is served.
To: Justunjust
You spent a post below trying to accuse someone of stirring things up and trying to guess who they are; all because they have a different opinion than you. Then you list their actual names that may very well be wrong. Then you do it under the cover of a sign-on name yourself. You are a complete coward since you do all this undercover in a time when it is not appropriate. You might as well guess me too!
Never did I say K. Hill was innocent!! I was simply stating that he never meant for this accident to happen. No matter what he did growing up (which isn't any of our business) it isn't like he planned to cause an accident when he woke up that morning. Yes he should pay for what he did, but his family has feelings, too. He has a very wonderful grandmother that has to live with what he's done everyday. She don't need everyone bashing him. He knows he will pay for what he's done, but I agree with the others, stick with the story instead of making this a story on K. Hill's flaws (which I know some of them have been stretched from the truth).
My prayers go out to the Brown family. Atleast the law has done their job and they will see justice. It has been since 2003 since my dad was killed on that highway and it's really a sick feeling to know the man that killed him is out living his life because the law didn't do their job.
I'm reading this article from Knoxville. Bro. Tim and I served together at Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill - he was the pastor and I was the youth director. I know that Tim started his ministry at Longview Baptist as the youth director and has always had a special place in his heart for that congregation, particularly Bro. Brown. I want Tim and the Brown family to know that they are all in my prayers and that I grieve with them from 3 hours away.
As for settling scores and making records straight about politics, emergency services, taxes, scanners and manners, I agree with Mike Molder's comments below.
John Barber
There is a limit to all things. Does the T-G not have the authority to remove this article from the "COMMENT SECTION"? ( I will agree the comment section is nice - only of if it is used appropriately and I don't deem this appropriately.) This has literally gotten out of hand. Some people apparently have lost (or did they ever know) track of respect.
I have yet to understand why such material can be posted -- I would highly recommend the T-G require actual names -- but the type of person JustunJust is, they would more than likely use someone else's name. It appears they know all to well how to use actual names.

Sheesh!! how didi i get dragged into this basshing session?? at no time did i show any disrespect to anyone in this article. someone always gots to be picking on the poor farmer.
if Gale Barber is president, maybe he will put JUSTINJIST over the ACLU, Since that grou[will be best suited for your lifestyle!
oh and by the way I hope my niece and nephew,Jennifer's kids, don't see your comment, because their uncle died yesterday so they have enough on their minds!!!
Justunjust
I think that comment was soooo uncalled for!You have some nerve! My dad hasn't even commented on here and Jennifer has NEVER commented.
This is about the BROWN FAMILY and for you to use this forum to stick a knife in my family is so wrong!REAL NAMES SHOULD BE REQUIRED
I have been quiet but this has nothing to do with MY family,Tony Barrett ,or the comm center which evidently where you are...THIS IS ABOUT A MAN WHO LOST HIS LIFE!!!!!!!
since ereryone seems to have forgotten...My sympathy goes to that family.I am so ashamed of the way people are acting on here..GROW UP!!!!!
Now THAT sounds like a plan. Thanks, JUSTUNJUST.You dah MAN!!!
Scannermanner,
I knew some way or another you would have to bring up the Comm Center in this post even though you could find no fault in them in the way they dispatched this call. Perhaps its because you and your family are the only ones with an axe to grind and nobody else seems to be hopping on the bandwagon.
Has anyone besides Justunjust noticed the similarities in the posts made by LowerTaxes, Scannermanner, Farmerman, Gale Barber, and Duck Barber? Do your research people as I have and you will see the similarities. The majority of their posts all relate to the same topic and are based on their jealousy of the current Comm Center Director. Why? Because DUCK got fired and Daddy can't do anything about it. Now those are facts people. Scannermanner is all about people knowing the facts so he shouldn't have any problem with those.
People that frequent the T-G website and read the comments to articles and blogs know that this site is also frequented by Gale and Duck Barber; however, the only time they post using their name is when we see their softer side like when Gale invited kids to take a field trip to his farm(as long as they promise not to sue) to learn about how to grow vegetables and milk cows and live off the land. When they bash County Officials they use Scannermanner, LowerTaxes, and Farmerman. Now I'm no psychic and can't prove any of what I just typed (except the facts I stated earlier) but come on people doesn't it seem a little strange. Like I said in an earlier post if it walks like a "Duck" and talks like a "Duck" you can just about assume its a Duck!
To Meandmy4:
Where do you get your information? I'd be careful telling people to stop spreading rumors if you turn around and do the same...in the same sentence!! One thing is for sure, like you the Brown's lost a loved one by someone under the influence.
I just don't want anyone to think for one second that Hill was in ANY WAY innocent.
Hey now. I never said Tony was a bad guy nor did I say he was a terrible officer. I simply stated what was going on there. I never said he did not care. He may be a fine man and a great father. If someone was on here bashing my dad, I would speak up also. You said just what you should had Ben. As far as not using real names on here, there are many people on here that don't. Maybe the T-G should make it where we all have to use our real names. But, if you were stating an opinion about an officer {right or wrong} and you used your real name, how can you be sure there would be no retaliation from that officer or his peers?? This forum is simply to give some people the opportunity to state facts, if readers believe them, that's for them to decide. Maybe you have used a bogus name on here before, Ben, Funny thing is, we will never know for sure.
My whole point was that there was money being wasted there. This entire county is in a budget crunch and your dad, being a county commissioner, should know that if anyone should. If he cares so much {which I am sure he does} why wasn't he at the hospital consoling Mrs. Brown or at the jail making sure Hill was getting the book thrown at him or worse. Now if your dad and the county commission wants to raise our taxes to put 20 officers at a wreck scene, well they do have that power.
Yes this is a tragedy; it takes a horrible thing like this to bring other things to light. If Tony happened to get caught up in this, well I am sorry, but that is also part of being an official. Also if things are not brought to the attention of the readers how will they ever know? I mean look at the James Crowell Rd. fire around Christmas, if someone had not brought out the 911 center's screw up, how was people to know. That also was a terrible thing.
Most of you may not like my comments, but if I can make 1 person sit up and think " Wow!! There is a problem here.". My mission is accomplished. Just look at the 911 Center, they NOW make a point to sometimes try to get emergency responders to the right location. Once again mission accomplished. I just want the county as a whole to TRY and save some money!!
I know a lot of emergency service personnel {volunteers and paid} and most I am close to.
Heck there are people on here that are actually DEFENDING Mr. Hill. What in the world are they thinking??
first prayers to the brown family.well kimery was a real work of "art" anyways.i use to work with him years ago and i remember him always being in trouble. if i remember correctly he brought a gun to school and threatend a teacher and was kicked out of the school system. so seems people like him are better off in jail.it really sucks that it took a mans life...and took a lil girls daddy
Ben...I've lived in Shelbyville/Bedford County or in a surrounding county for most of my life. I've never heard anything but good about your dad. Some of the folks on here want to bad mouth those who work hard to protect and serve the rest of us and do not appreciate the tough jobs the emergency personnel do. As I said previously, my dad is a firefighter and my brother is in law enforcement, my uncle is a firefighter and my husband is a future patrol officer. I'm sure I'll hear negative things about him in further down the line, but I know how hard these guys and gals work for our community. So......THANK YOU to your dad, my dad/brother/uncle and to ALL the rest of you out there.
My prayers are with everyone involved this horrible accident, especially the Brown family. God Bless each of you.
Tony Barrett is a hard-working, intelligent, and superior Sheriff's Deputy. As his son, I know all of the work he puts in and the countless hours that he works. What a shame that a story about a true tragedy has turned into a public forum for two people with nothing better to do than criticize public officials like my dad. This situation had nothing to do with the Sheriff's Department and everything to do with the loss of a man's life...a man, who I might add, was a friend of my parents. My dad was there because he cared--not because it is in his job description. In the end, my dad won't care. You see, he's been called much worse by way better than "low tax" and "scannerman," two people who don't even use their real names to voice their inane (look it up) opinions.
It's funny I read all these. My father was killed on the same highway at the bridge right before Longview Road. The man that killed him was drunk on probabtion and left him there to die. He was suposed to have been his best friend. He was picked up by his girlfriend and called 911 to let it be known there was a wreck (you couldn't see the car down the embankment). But my point to this is that the man that done this NEVER got any type of charges. He was never questioned and the case was closed. How can the law let the man that killed my dad walk away and throw the book at someone else? I tried talking to lawyers and chief of police, they wouldn't help me at all. The way I see it is if you don't have money you don't stand a chance.
As for the rumors on K. Hill, he wasn't drunk OR wasted on drugs. This town thrives on rumors!!! If you don't know the facts then don't comment at all. Oh and by the way his little girl is fine and was buckled up.
Thank you Mike for your kind words.
Amen Grumpysister. I wish people would save their personal vendettas for more appropriate blogs! This isn't the proper place to bash public servants. This should be a place to let the Browns know how much Boddy meant to everyone who knew him and how many lives he touched. May God be with his family.
What a shame. The Brown family will have to weed through all the bickering in these comments to find the nice things people have to say about Bobby.
My sympathies to the family of Mr. Brown. I did not know him personally; however, I have heard so many wonderful things about the kind of man he was. May your faith comfort each of you in your loss.
I worked with Bobby for the last three years at Lowes. He was one of the finest people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Through talking with him at work I know that he loved his family and all of his friends very much. He was always thinking of others before thinking of him self. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Bobbys family as they are dealing with this tragedy. May their faith get them thru this. My thoughts are also with Walt the driver of the Lowes truck that was right there when all of this happened. I will also be thinking of the families of everyone else involved. This was a very tragic accident that never should have happened.
yes you are right , the three year old needs sympathy; she also needs a loving, caring, safe, and stable home. no child deserves to grow up with a parent who does not care for their well-being!!!!!!!!!! my personal prayers go out to the Brown family and we all have to PRAY that our local justice system will work. AS for KIMERY HILL , i hope he is convicted of everything he was charged with.
AS for all our county officials , ( POLICE , FIRE AND E.M.S.) they do a great job. THANK YOU PUBLIC SAFETY WORKERS OF BEDFORD COUNTY.
I think I just read Mr Hill's three old was in the car with him. This little girl deserves a little sympathy, too. What a horrible ordeal for small child. What is wrong with people? I hope she gets some counseling.
I just read this today and I was filled with so much sadness. I had worked with Mr. Bobby at Lowes. I joined the Air Force and am now stationed in New Mexico. I just wish I could be there right now and express my condolences to his family. Mr. Bobby was just the most kind and thoughtful humanbeing God could put on this planet. I know he will be greatly missed. He had so many years in him and I feel that he was taken too soon. I will always remember his Christian attitude about everything. I will keep his family in my prayers.
Dump Truck Driver:
You are absolutely correct. I will be the first to say, if you need me I will stay as long as possible and do what I can. I suppose the issue at hand, in my first comment, there were SERVERAL officers there, but I don't know why. I mean I know THP has to investigate the accident, and there was a lot to this one. There were at least "5" sheriff's officers, then 3-4 THP units, 2 fire trucks, 2 ambulances. EMS done their job and cleared out, 1 fire truck left. THP was doing their job. I can understand Officer Harvey being there because she was "somewhat" involved. Oh I forgot to mention that a man and truck from EMA came all the way from town to just sit there and direct traffic in place of Unionville Fire, so he ALSO did the officers job! Once again Tony Barrett being a supervisor did not offer to do it nor did he delegate any of his people to do it, even after he was ASKED to do so.
I will say again, if it had been only 2-3 units there and they were short handed, I believe the fire department would have had no problem sticking around to help. I been there and done that myself. It just seems like a waste of time and money.
Sorry if I got off on my high horse just a little, I just wanted to be as clear as I could.
When Bobby started work at Lowes, he let them know he couldn't work on Sundays because he would be in church. Somehow he was put on the Sunday schedule and he spoke to them about it and it was changed. He put God first. If we all could learn a lesson in how Bobby lived his life; then maybe some of us won't have to learn a hard lesson in how he died. His family will take comfort in how he lived his life. How many of our families will have that after we are gone? If you passed away today, what will be remembered about you? Having gone through a similar tragedy, my heart aches for all the families involved, Brown, McGehee, Mullins and Hill, as well as the many friends and co-workers. Bobby's friendly face will be very much missed each time we go into Lowes.
I appreciate all of you that are volunteers.
However, isn't that why we have and need volunteers if there is not enough manpower to be at the accident, etc.????
scannermanner........
THANK YOU for acknowledging the many volunteers who are in this county. My father is a paid firefighter and a volunteer in his community also. I am very proud of him and of all the years he has served this county. The volunteers and the paid employees (firefighters, ems workers, law enforcement, etc) are the true heros anymore. We all should remember that each time they report for their shift or respond voluntarily to an emergency, the potential is there for them to be putting their own lives on the line. So THANK YOU to each of you out there who protect and serve Shelbyville and Bedford County.
We cannot stop car pursuits from the police. If we did every car that ever saw blue lights would just run because they know the police would not be allowed to stop them. No blame whatsoever should be given to anyone involved except for the one who caused the accident. You see blue lights; you pull over. End of story.
On another note, I think there were other accidents going on around the county. Maybe thats why there were not enough officers to direct traffic. Luckily the Unionville volunteers helped out so there would not be other accidents. Unionville is getting bigger by the day. Maybe it's time to incorporate and create your own police force to help with the over stretched county police.
Congratulations JUSTUNJUST, you finally got a English degree, excellent spelling and grammar {or maybe someone typed it for you}. Ok, it may not be perfect, but at least it looked like a letter instead of a text message. There is one huge group of people that you forgot to thank, and they are all the VOLUNTEERS in the county. Volunteer Fire Fighters, First Responders, Reserve Deputies, Ema Volunteers and the list goes on. That's probably over 250 people that do the same job of some of those you just named, but they do it for NO PAY. Now that is PRIDE!! Some of these same VOLUNTEERS have been doing this for 25+ years. I would dare say that there are very few, that you named, and that has even come close to that many years of service. So if anything, you and everyone else need to thank the VOLUNTEERS of this county and elsewhere. I do appreciate MOST of the ones you mentioned, but just remember that is their job; they are there for the money. You spoke of LOWERTAXESPLEASE getting a job in emergency services. That's where you and I agree. BUT how many of the PAID individuals you mentioned do VOLUNTEER work in the same emergency services they represent. So, JUSTUNJUST, until you are out here putting your life on the line, using your $3.50/gal gas, and doing it all for no pay, you will never understand. I say this, because I have and continue to this day, to volunteer.
Now, with that said, neither you nor LowertaxesPlease have shown no respect to any family member involved in this tragedy. Maybe you bother need to run for office{or maybe you already have} and then you can debate things then. Yes, I did mention Tony Barrett in my earlier comment, but I did also show remorse for the Brown family.
i must say that thiswas a horrible tragedy. my heart goes out to the brown ad haynes families. the man resposible for this i really dont see as a good man he was drunk and on drugs and had his daughter in the car with him. and that is a good man? yes people do have their flaws but being on drugs and drunk fine but getting behind the wheel with his daughter in the car killing a man is far more beyond any flaws i have ever seen. and the hero in all of this is the lady who chased him down. if it hadnt have been for her whose to say the guy would have been caught? she didnt even know what had happened but knew he had done something wrong. so much appreciation goes out to that lady and thanks to her braveness and courage it took to chase him down at a high rate of speed justice can be done. i saw the whole thing from the moment i saw her chasing him at a high rate of speed till i got down the road to the accident and i must say it was the most horrible thing i have ever seen in my life.
This is such a BURDEN on both families. The Brown's are wonderful people. All these good things said about them are so true. I've known them all my life.
But, Kimery Hill has a wonderful grandmother that is hurt, crushed, embarassed, helpless, and defeated. She has tried all his life to make a good person out of him. She's loved him, advised him, prayed & wept for him. This lady needs condolences. She's my friend and a wonderful Christian lady.
All families involved need our encouragement & prayers. So SAD.....
Not to take away from this story, But it would be a "Good Idea" if their were Video cameras aimed at the streets, to catch some of these drivers, instead of engaging into a (Hot Pursuit) chase on residential streets. "I'm not saying this was a hot pursuit", Some months back their were at least 3 police cars chasing (I think they said 3 mexicans) in a vehicle at (VERY HIGH SPEEDS) through residential neighborhoods. They made a complete circle twice. It was night time, and if anyone pulled out of their drive way, or stepped out into the street, they would surely be a tragic loss. If any of those drivers lossed control of their vehicle they would be up in someones house.
I know these officers were doing their job, and trying to get those idiots off the roads but sometimes it is wiser to not chase but set up road blocks, or possibly veiw video cameras to catch these pursuits on residential streets.
Lowertaxes, Why must you lie? I rode past the accident yesterday as well and Tony Barrett was directing traffic when I came through. You are such a bitter person, especially toward public service officials in this town. Almost to the point that one is led to believe that you live a miserable life and thrive off second guessing what our public servants do day in and day out. If you have never made a dime off of taxpayers, how about changing that and get a job as a public servant whether it be Police, Fire, EMS, or dispatch. Maybe you should even consider running for a political office. I'm led to believe the reason you are neither is for One, you dont have the guts and Two, you dont have the brains. Its easy to get on this site with your cronies and bad mouth all these people from Deputies to County Commissioners but rarely do your posts actually have a logical explanation of what needs changing. Is the system perfect? No, but what it is made up of are dang good men and women who have served this community and comtinue to serve this community, not for the money, not for the glory, but with Pride. These men and women wake up each day just like you except first thing they do is put on that uniform or business suit and strive to make this town a safer and better place to live and raise a family.
I would like to commend these men and women like Captain Tony Barrett, Deputy Tracey Harvey, Comm Center Director Cathey Mathis, EMS Director Chad Graham, Fire Chief Mark Thomas, Sheriff Randall Boyce, Police Chief Austin Swing, Public Works Director Mark Clanton, County Mayor Eugene Ray, City Mayor Wallace Cartwright, All of our County Commissioners, and City Council members and all of the men and women who work and represent each of these departments. These men and women need to be thanked daily by our community and if you cant find something to thank them for, get your on platform and run for office to change the way things are handled. None of these servants expect you to agree with them all of the time but to sit back and disagree just to disagree doesn't help either.
I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. My heart goes out to the Brown family!
My prayers go out to this family, I knew Bobby thru my sister-in-law Maggie Pope. That was her brother, and she just lost a son the first of this month Randy Pope. What more can this family go thru, she been in poor health for the last few years. God knows have much a person can take, but this family has done lost alot.
My sincerly goes to the Brown's and all there family.

Hey Live4Him, I read The Shack too and I agree, it would be an awesome tool for healing Mr. Brown's family and Tim, too. Kudos for recommending it. I also heard the officers who made the arrest asked Hill if he would like to meet the widow of the man he just killed, and he was apparently too wiped out to realize they were even speaking to him.
BTW, Tim & Bobby didn't know each other for over 20 years, that was erroneous info, but they have known each other for about 17 I guess.
So tragic. God's ways and thoughts are so much higher than our own. The only thing we know for certain is that Bobby completely knows what's going on now, what Jesus plans to do in this whole awful thing. Scripture tells us that all things are worked together for good for those who are called according to God's purpose. Poor, sweet Mrs. Brown. God bless her with comfort, and surround her with support.
I just wanted to tell a few of the details that seem to have been left out. I was at the hospital when Mr. Hill was admitted to be checked out and he was totally wasted. He was staggering around and seemed to show no remorse whatsoever. I was told that he had meth crusted around his mouth and that he was also driving about 110 miles per hour when the accident happened. I don't know all the facts but it seems to me that he was already speeding when the officer saw him and that he wasn't just running because he was "SCARED".
It's obvious that he deserves whatever consequences he gets, but the wonderful thing is that even though he will have to suffer those consequences God will forgive him if he will just ask for forgiveness. I didn't know Mr. Brown personally but from what I have heard of him he was a wonderful Christian man who would probably have willingly given his life for someone else to be saved. We know that he is with his Heavenly Father now and that he is not suffering, but we should all pray for his family and for Pastor McGehee and his family in their suffering.
I recently read a book called "The Shack" that changed my perspective of tragedy. I would recommend that everyone read it. I realize that now is probably not the time for these families but eventually it may give them some comfort.
Sorry, but never made a living off of the taxpayers.
Your right the laws need to be harsher for people who drive on suspended licenses.I know someone who lives in Shelbyville right now who could have very well caused an accident just like this one.He has been arrested over 4 times(I have lost count), each time he got a few weeks or months, a fine and a good ole boy slap on the back with a "don't do it again".The last time he was cought driving they finally sent him to prison for 18 months, but I hear he is home and back to his old tricks.
Wow I was goin to say the same thing about you lowertaxes except for the stay clean part.
I have never seen Tony Barrett do anything but run his mouth and stay clean. He has always made a living off of the taxpayers. I would never vote for Boyce again as long as he has Tony on the force. This action doesn't surprise me at all.
PLEASE, LET THIS BE A STOPPING PLACE FOR OUR JUDICAL SYSTEM. WE MUST STOP JUST PATTING THESE PEOPLE ON THE HAND. WE MUST START GIVING THE PEOPLE THAT BREAK THE LAW WHAT THEY DESERVE! I SEE SO MANY REPEAT OFFENDERS IN OUR PAPERS. I KNOW OUR POLICE MEN & WOMEN FEEL LIKE THEIR JOB IS IN VAIN, THEY ARREST THE WRONG DOERS, AND THEN THE JUDGE TURNS THEM LOOSE,
MAY GOD'S LOVE AND GRACE BE WITH ALL THE FAMLIES THAT HAS LOST THEIR LOVE ONES THIS WEEK.
I stopped there at the wreck to see if could help. Even after the tragedy that just happened and Officer Harvey's involvement in this, she still took it upon herself to try and keep all of the mayhem in order. She was the only officer trying to control the flow of traffic, since it was at a very busy time of day. The smartest thing done was to divert traffic around the area of the wreck. It was a wonder there was not anymore accidents due to on-lookers passing by. There was one officer at the Shell station and the Unionville Fire truck blocking the other side. Where were all the other officers?? Seemed like a waste of fuel for a big fire truck to sit there for nearly 2 hours just to divert traffic. I saw Tony Barrett there and he was doing nothing and did not even offer to relieve the VOLUNTEERS that were doing his job. From what I understood in some conversation, a fire fighter even suggested to Tony, that traffic be diverted, and he made no attempt to do so. Oh well!! Some officers like Tracy Harvey go above and beyond, and then there are officer like Tony Barrett!!
I do feel awful for the Brown family and even for Mr. McGehee. I could not begin to imagine what he is feeling, knowing he took a man's {a friend's} life, and it was no fault of his own. Sometimes life just is not fair!!
seems to me that the way things have been going for the past few weeks, the BIG man upstairs is upset and he is sending us a message.
i know things happen for a reason and HE has a plan, but its just very hard to understand
OMG!! I can't believe this! Mrs. Brown, the widow, was our school secretary in Unionville for YEARS. She was so sweet and quiet.
Wasn't this Mr. Brown an uncle or something of Randy Pope, who also just recently died? My prayers are going up to all family members.
I also believe that you should never drive if you have no licences....He should have stopped to see if he could have helped the man he hit...But instead he left him for dead...And you never drive around with your children with out making sure they are put in a car seat or belted in...how would he had felt if his daughter had been playing in her yard and someone hit her with or with out licences and drove away leaving her for dead...This man took someones father...husband..grandfather..brothr and uncle.. friend...He needs to have the book thrown at him...Shame on him....He was SCARED..How do you think Mr. Brown felt....and now his family.....SHAME>>>SHAME>>>>SHAME on him....
I dont know the Hill boy, but to me if he is a good person the he should have had his daughter in a car seat, buckled in. And also shouldn't have been speeding trying to pass someone. I think he should have been charged with child endangerment as well. He could have easily hurt that little girl. When you have a revoked or suspended lisence, That means you CANNOT drive. Thats too simple. I hope he spends a long time in jail too think about what really went on and who all he hurt. He has hurt the family of Mr. Brown, and alo he has hurt his daughter because she won't see him for awhile.

Well I didnt know the man that was killed. My prayers are out to them. BUT I did know the man that supposedly was the cause and I know he is a good man. He had his little girl with him and would never do anything to put her in harm. What happened yesterday was tragic ACCIDENT. We all have our flaws and even though he had no license doesn't make him a bad man. It could have happened to me or you just the same. What would be the difference if he had license??? He ran because he was scared. Until it happens to you nobody has no right to judge anyone!!

"Supposedly the cause" I think the fact that he caused the death of Mr. Brown was confirmed. He should of stayed there at the scene and it wouldn't of looked as bad for him. I'll be curious to see why the guy doesn't have a license. I agree that tougher penalties need to be put in place for the people who drive on a suspended license. Perhaps then people like Hill would think twice before illegally driving a vehicle.
To Meandmy4:
You said "He had his little girl with him and would never do anything to put her in harm."
I have trouble believing you. I heard that the girl was not in a car seat but sitting in the back seat. I have trouble believing that someone who would not even place their own child in a car seat has much regard for anyone else. The fact that he did not have a license makes all the difference in the world to me. I'm sure he did not lose his license for no reason at all. If he had not been behind the wheel, this ACCIDENT would not have happened at all. He may be a good man, I don't know him and can't comment. But the fact is he broke the law and is still responsible for his own actions.
One last note to "disgusted". I hope your not trying to blame all this on a police officer just doing their job. There is only one person to blame for all this.
If you have no license, you do not need to be driving! I bet he had no insurance either. I understand good people makes mistakes, but he did not respect the law. I understand he had 20 or 21 driving violations on his record according to a local law enforcer. That is not good. My prayers are with the Brown family, they are good people and did not deserve this....

My heart is heavy that the world has lost such a fine man in Bobby Brown. I believe this man lived his faith every day. "Bro Bobby" is one of the 1st people I ever remember knowing at Longview Baptist Church. That was back in 1963. I think I can safely say that never in those 40+ years did his and his wife's faith waver. They have had their share of trial and tribulation but their faith has remained strong and has seen them through. It is a sad day for our church but I know that Bro. Bobby would want us to carry on.
I am saddened also for the other people involved in this tragic accident. Bro. Tim love Bobby also and I know his heart is heavy also. But I know Bobby would want him to carry on. It is a sad say for Longview Church and Bedford Co. but we can all rejoice in the fact that Bro. Bobby is with his Lord today and I'll bet he is right there continuing his service to his Lord.
I would first like to say that my prays are with all family's, Including the family of Mr. Hill. I just wanted to remind everyone that every event happens for a reason. Yesterday was the time God had picked for Mr. Brown to go home. There is a reason God allowed this event to happen. I personally think this event is a chance God has given Mr. Hill to open up his eyes and change his life. I dont know Mr. Brown on a personal level, but if he was the true christian people say he was, I am sure if he knew the events that would unfold on that day could save a sinner he would have stood in the same spot with his head held high in the glory of God.
Oh my. Our hearts are so heavy for all the families involved right now. As if this weren't a horrible enough tragedy in and of itself, there is also a horrifying connecting twist to this that the reporter may not have realized. Bobby Brown was a deacon and Tim McGehee is a minister; in fact, Tim mentored who was to be Bobby's new pastor. Tim and Bobby were close friends of over 20 years. In spite of his injuries, Tim refused to leave Bobby's side until the Lifelight helicopter had taken him away, praying with him and comforting him until the very last. It was said that had the assailant hit Tim's truck just an inch different, there would have been two fatalities instead of one. Tim is my sister's pastor, and their entire congregation grieves with him and with Bobby's family and congregation. What incredible damage one selfish man's actions can take in a single moment! It truly boggles the mind, that he could be responsible for causing a man to accidentally kill his own good friend and fellow Christian. I can't stress enough that prayers need to go to both families that the comfort and the peace of God will cover their hearts, and that bitterness or unforgiveness will not overtake them in the weeks to come. Forgiving this man will take courage and strength that only God can give.
talking about a freak accident, i agree with mike molder, these laws are way to soft. i hope they put him under the jail. its one thing to be in a tragic accident like Ms. Collier in the N Main accident, but to run and hide like Mr Hill did because he knew he was in trouble, well there is no excuse. from the looks of the pictures its lucky there were no more killed.
i am not sure what the situation was with officer Harvey, i don't think she was inpursuit{not that she wasn't going to be}. Hill probably just saw an officer and knew he was busteed and sped up to get away before she got turned around. ofcourse thats just my opinion. there has been so many rumors floating around, i suppose there are a very few that really know. either way it is a terrible situation. we all do not know how fortunate we are to simply be here and living. this goes to show how quickly you can leave this world and it can happen to anyone.
whats freaky about this whole deal is, Mr Brown and Mr Haynes lived so close that they could almost see each others house.
i knew it was bad, when i knew they had the highway shut down for 2-3 hours. i wondered, Why so long?
anyways, we all need to pray for all the families. lets all slow down and stop to smell the roses. this world is too fast paced nowadays. seems no one really appreciates the little things anymore.
I am wondering why the T-G did not have anything listed about the tractor accident on Hwy. 64 W Sat. The road was closed for several hours.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown have been wonderful neighbors to my mother for several years. Catching a speeder driving with a suspended license was not worth Mr. Browns life. My prayers are with you all!
This is unusual for 3 fatal deaths in car accidents all with in 3 days. It is really sad to be in your own yard, going about your day and loose your life just like that. They were 69, 71, 81 years old. My prayers go out to the 3 families. We are going to have to be alot more alert and cautious behind the wheel.
Had Deputy Harvey already began pursuit of this vehicle when the accident occurred? It sounds as if this guy, who was driving on a suspended license knew he was being followed for speeding and was trying to get away before this accident happened. If that was the case, then there probably could of been more charges. We need to stiffen the penalties for driving on a suspended license. This happens too often especially in cases of DUI convictions. Perhaps if this guy hadn't of gotten off so easy a fine man like Mr. Brown wouldn't of had to lose his life over such a careless and senseless act!
This is very tragic. Mr. Brown was one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet. I went to school with his son, Troy and daughter-in-law, Angela. I hope everyone will keep them in your prayers as I will.
Troy and Rex Haynes both graduated from Community in 1986 and both lost their fathers in traffic accidents during the past week. I know this will be hard on both of them and I hope they both know they can call on me if they need anything.
Is McDonald's giving out Driver's Licenses in the Happy Meals?
My heart and prayers go out to all 3 families of these tragedies.
This is 3 accidents in 3 days that had a fatality.
