Champs use seven arms to sting Yellow Jackets

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Cascade scored in each of the first three innings of play and cruised to an 8-1 win over Trousdale County at Cumberland University in Lebanon.

The victory pushes the Champions' overall record to 22-5 and rounds out regular season play. They face the Eagleville/Community winner in the District 9-A tournament on Saturday morning at 11 at Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro.

Cascade got a good portion of their pitching staff some work as seven different arms took the hill. Josh Brown, Justin Bryant, Chase Nunley, Kyle Saylor, Jay Bishop, Kyle Clanton and Blake Harvey combined to hold the Yellow Jackets to just two hits while striking out seven.

MoMo Stewart and Nick Batts both reached base via walks in the top of the first inning. Clanton followed with a sacrifice fly to score Stewart. Bryant singled to plate Batts. Brown knocked a base hit before Tyler Bowen drove in Bryant with a single to put them up 3-0.

Stewart finished with a pair of singles. Clanton added a solo home run in the third inning.

Phillip White was the losing pitcher.
