Officer Jody Shelton said he stopped the car occupied by driver Jake Allen Raby, 22, East Lane Street, and passenger Damon Juvea Hickmon, 21, King Arthur Trailer Court, due to no headlights in use at night. A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.
Raby allegedly "hesitated" and looked away before denying marijuana was in the car, then refused consent for a vehicle search after denying drugs or weapons were inside.
After getting out of the car, Raby admitted when asked that he did have a bag of marijuana in one of his pockets, Shelton said. The marijuana and bag weighed a total of 12.01 grams.
Two bags of marijuana found in Hickmon's socks by Officer Darrell Birdsong weighed 6.76 grams, police said.
The allegedly-stolen gun, a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum Model 629, was discovered under the driver's seat. No charges have been filed concerning actual theft of the gun.
Raby was charged with possession of a schedule VI drug, possession of a weapon and theft of property. He was released on $3,500 bond.
Hickman posted $1,500 bond on a charge of possession of a schedule VI substance.

Approximately $4,000 worth of scrap metal was taken from the yard and $5,000 worth of tools from the house along with two air conditioners, four bicycles and a battery-powered children's car.
The men, described as white and driving a red van, left Thursday after the second theft when confronted by a neighbor, police said.
