Top-seeded Golden Eagle senior Justin Gordon took down Kentaro Takido 8-4 in a rematch of the district singles final. The rest of the squad followed suit from there.
"These boys have had an impressive district run, going undefeated in district play," Shelbyville coach Doyle Hutton said. "They haven't given up all season long but worked to improve at each and every outing."
Sophomore Jordan Phelps gave Shelbyville its first match with a solid performance as the No. 2 seed, defeating Taylor Groce 8-3. Senior John Dawson brought them to within a single match of the crown when he took down Patrick Mackay 8-2. Minutes later, freshman Corey Young hung an 8-3 loss on Toneilous Cannon to secure the hosts' victory.
Senior Nisharg Patel was hot on the heels of Corbin Hedges when the match was suspended with Tullahoma leading 5-6.
The Eagles also earned the right to host the Region 4-AAA team tournament later this week.
Shelbyville's girls tennis team travels to Lincoln County today for their district final.
