All across Tennessee, baseball and softball teams put their seasons on the line tonight when they lock horns in the region semifinals.
Bedford County has one representative in each sport.
Cascade's Champions, ranked No. 3 in Class A by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association, play host to Clarksville Academy in the Region 5-A semis. The Lady Champions head north to Cross Plains to battle East Robertson. Both games are tonight at 6:30.
The Champs (25-5) carry their District 9-A championship and four-game win streak into their showdown with the Cougars (23-9).
"They've got a good hitting ballclub," Cascade baseball coach Chris Parker said. "They're going to put the baseball in play. We need to make good pitches."
In the other half of the region, District 10 title holder Nashville Christian (24-11) gets a visit from Middle Tennessee Christian (23-10).
Seven seniors -- Corey Mullins, Nick Batts, Justin Bryant, Matt Bain, Kyle Clanton, Zack Hill and MoMo Stewart -- in orange and black put their high school careers on the diamond on the line as they attempt to get back to Murfreesboro for the Spring Fling.
"These guys work very hard and are leaders of our team," Parker said. "They promised me in deep left field after our season ended last year that they would do everything in the world possible to get us back there and hopefully win it."
At first glance, the road doesn't appear as treacherous as their previous season since Vanderbilt bound pitcher Will Clinard and East Robertson were bounced during their district tournament.
Clarksville Academy took Nashville Christian to the "if" game in their tournament on Friday before running out of gas. If they have an advantage it's that they saw all four of Cascade's top pitchers in a doubleheader back in late March.
Junior southpaw Josh Brown (9-0) is likely to get the start on the hill. The Champion ace and district pitcher of the year is tough to prepare for with a wide selection of pitches to choose from, including a dancing knuckleball.
Cascade's softball team attempts to break down a door that's been slamming them in the face the last few years. After finishing runner-up in the district to Forrest for the fourth straight year, they hope to avoid seeing their season end in Cross Plains for the third consecutive season.
The Lady Champs (17-9) were outscored 28-5 in their last three region tourney appearances. They will trot sophomore Leigha Carter out to the bump in an attempt to end that run. The Lady Indians have added postseason experience after playing three games in the state tournament in '07.
Ace pitcher Chelsea Carter graduated from East Robertson, but they have replaced her with sophomore Kelsi Mason.
Forrest (29-6) faces Houston County in Chapel Hill tonight in the other 5-A semifinal.
Tonight's winners automatically earn a spot in Friday's sectionals.

Good Luck tonight Lady Champions and Champions!!!!
