The Shelbyville Sox fell in their rubber match with the Tennessee Travelers 10-6 despite an eventful comeback in their final at-bat on Wednesday night at Cascade High.

Trailing 10-1 with one down in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Bowman, Joey Simmons, Donnie Cruse and Brian Price mixed singles with a three-run double by Bo Gill and walks by Brad Meeks and Stefin Reed. The tying run was on deck before the Travelers ended the rally with a strikeout.

Bowman and Cruse paced Shelbyville (2-8) with a pair of hits apiece.

A pair of errors on top of five hits led to six runs for the Travelers in the second inning.

Danny Parker (1-3) was the losing pitcher. He was charged with nine runs, four of which were unearned, on seven hits while pitching into the fifth inning. The right-hander fanned a pair and walked five. Garrett Wagner went two frames on the hill. Meeks worked a scorless seventh.

The Sox are off for the holiday weekend before hosting the Murfreesboro Blues at 7:30 p.m. on July 9.
