Fourth of July schedule at Griffin Park

Aside from Friday night's big fireworks display, there will be plenty taking place at H.V. Griffin Park beforehand:

* 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. - $1 swim day at both indoor and outdoor pools, with a variety of water games planned.

* 2 p.m. - Chicken Foot Dominos Tournament in meeting room of Shelbyville Recreation Center.

* 3:30 p.m. - Opening ceremony and the Children's Red, White and Blue Fourth of July Parade. Line up will begin at 3:20 p.m. Following parade will be the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.

* 4 p.m. - Many activities kick off, including a dunking booth, a Ninja 5 in 1 Inflatable obstacle course for kids and adults, tricycle races, face painting, pony rides, watermelon split, fun at the batting cages and an enormous 200 foot Slip 'n Slide.

* 4 p.m. - Skateboarding bash and thrash contest.

* 5 until 9 p.m. - Performances at the Lions' Club Pavilion from The Challengers, The Cavaliers Quartet, Two His Glory and the Cross Point String Band.

* 9 p.m. - Fireworks display.
