Trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the third, Shelbyville's Will Trice singled, Michael Watkins doubled and Hunter Brothers walked to give the frame a torrid start. All three scored to tie the game.
The game stayed knotted at 5 until Murfreesboro, led by former Cascade coach Chris Parker, blew the doors off in the top of the sixth. Michael Parks and Alex Vondohlen both had two-run base hits to highlight a seven-run burst.
Trice singled and scored again in the bottom of the inning but it would be Shelbyville's final tally.
Vondohlen struck again in the seventh with another base hit that yielded two RBIs and Justin Bowers doubled home a pair.
Hunter Brothers was the starting pitcher for Post 23. He struck out five, walked six and gave up three hits over three innings of work before giving way to Taylor Montgomery.
Shelbyville hosts Riverdale tonight at 6.
