Timmy Freeman, 31, of Shelbyville, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after he was discovered off Wheel Road, said Misty Mitchell, who says she's a friend of the victim.
"All we know is her name is Nancy," Mitchell said. "She called his wife on his cell phone after she stopped and helped."
Mitchell asks 'Nancy' to contact her at 437-3016.
Freeman was taken to Heritage Medical Center, then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of head injuries, broken ribs and a broken wrist, Mitchell said.
He has been released from VUMC, Mitchell said, and is recuperating at home.
Wallet taken
A Shelbyville man told police his wallet was taken by someone who walked up from behind and struck him in the head at the intersection of West Jackson Street and Shelbyville Mills Road.
Officer Waymond Boyd said the man followed the suspect to a mobile home in a Shelbyville Mills Road park. All occupants of the trailer were asked by police to step outside, but the victim told officers he didn't recognize them and later said he didn't remember the suspect's appearance.
The victim was treated by Bedford County Emergency Medical Service for a cut over his left eye but didn't go to a hospital, Boyd said.
The amount of money taken was not listed in the report.
Possible robbery
Officers report they were unable to recover items a Shelbyville man says were taken Friday by two men who "jumped" him outside Discount Food Mart, South Cannon Boulevard.
The victim, described by police as intoxicated, told officers the suspects took his cell phone, $130 and several cans of beer from a 12-pack. He said he'd been in a truck with the men, who allegedly because angry because he hadn't bought enough beer at the store as payback after consuming some of theirs.
Officers said they found the suspects, who had been named by the victim. They had no cell phone in their possession and denied taking the money, police said.

A thief may be celebrating upcoming holidays at someone else's expense.

The items' owner was told by a manager her former unit had been rented to someone else, she told police. The new occupant told the manager the unit was empty and the lock missing when he rented it.

Well it sounds like someone knows more about this accident than I do. I did not know it was initially dispatched as a non injury accident. I am fine with that, it happens a lot. BUT that still does not provide an explanation to why the Wheel F.D. was not dispatched as what should had happened, since it is protocol for accidents with injuries. I have to agree that mistakes happen…..and happen…. and happen. It tickles me when those that comes to the defense of the 911 center. Of course no one cares or wants to hear about it, UNTIL it directly affects them. Just so you know I don't listen to the scanner all the time, if I did, my informative posts would be a lot more frequent.
As they say, people are going to make a mistake from time to time. But when the mistake could potentially cost a life, you better believe I AM going to make it known {if I find out about the mistake}
OH MY WORD!! I almost forgot to mention yet another apparent "mistake" with the 911 center. Once again, another motorcycle wreck which happened on Simms Rd.,which is in the Wheel F.D. district. This just occurred this evening. So guess what, they were NOT dispatched again. And to top it off, Director Mathis was there to let it happen!!
Oh well that's just another mistake. They better stick with dispatching, because they will never make it as a doctor. Little Timmmy would go in to see them, and leave the doctor's office as Little Tammy. Oh Sorry!! It was just a mistake!!
How many "mistakes" are dispatchers allowed? It appears we are far from having "PERFECT service".
If we were even close -- it might make a difference.
Apparently "someone" knows a little about how things should be done and I am not saying this negatively
It initially was dispatched as a wreck with no injuries. It was upgraded to a wreck involving injuries once that information became available.
Everyone wants to point fingers at law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel, placing them at a standard of perfection that is absolutely insane. Do people make mistakes? Of course. Get over it.
However when these same folks that complain and moan about "lack of PERFECT service" by civil servants...need some form of help...who do they call?
Instead of knocking the job they do, and blowing things out of proportion...you COULD volunteer your time to help out, rather than sitting on your can listening to a scanner. Im sure the help could be used, and it would be greatly appreciated.
Its like talking to a wall...so...
Next time your in trouble, dont call the police. Call a crack head.
I am really glad Mr. Freeman is going to be alright. I am sure Nancy did what she knew she had to do for him as a concerned citizen. I believe if you call the 911 center, they should have her number and the report. While you are on the phone with the 911 center, you may want to inquire why Mr. Freeman did not receive the proper emergency response he deserved. If I remember correctly, there was a delay in the dispatch of fire personnel. In fact I am almost sure the Wheel Fire Dept. was not dispatched period. It's odd how the "Wheel" Fire Dept was not even dispatched to a call on "Wheel" Rd. It's a good thing he was not covered in gas from the accident. I would also suggest you checking to see if the Wheel First responder were even dispatched either. They are to be dispatcher with EMS, they are dispatched to render medical assistance to the patient before an ambulance arrives on the scene, providing volunteers are in the area.
I have made a point to inform the public of the poor dispatching of the 911 center, and they still continue to prove me right. This is another case of luck, that no one has lost their life yet. It is going to take someone making an example of them, before anyone will listens.
