Judicial Commissioner Billy Hardin has been charged with sexual battery and official misconduct, and had been bound over to the grand jury last month, but Assistant District Attorney Mike Randles said his case and several others were not presented during this term.
A charge of solicitation of prostitution against Hardin was dropped last month. Randles said it was likely that the case will be presented to the grand jury when it meets on Aug. 18.
However, the grand jury did indict a total of 26 persons on 111 charges at its July session on Monday.
According to records provided by Bedford County Circuit Court, those indicted were:
* Thomas Allen Burgess, 24, simple possession.
* Jorge Padilla Sanchez, 25, statutory rape.
* Mary Helen Wright, 38, prescription fraud (six counts).
* Christopher Paul Black, 41, habitual traffic offender, DUI, (fourth offense)
* Daniel Steven Lyall, 34, DUI, violation of implied consent, simple possession.
* Lawrence Edward Evans, 61, reckless endangerment, aggravated domestic assault.
* Charles William Pless, 51, DUI (fourth offense), habitual traffic offender, violation of implied consent.
* Bill Junior Freeman, 43, DUI (fourth offense), habitual traffic offender, violation of implied consent.
* Derek Alton Badger, 25, aggravated sexual battery.
* Jerret Hopper, 24, statutory rape.
* Jess Thomas Nippers, 44, DUI (fifth offense), driving on revoked (seventh offense), violation of implied consent.
* Justin Williard, 21, theft under $500, theft of property, identity theft.
* Rolanda Rochell Nelson, 29, theft under $500 , fraudulent use of a credit card (12 counts), forgery (11 counts).
* Kenya Lafont Streeter, 32, aggravated robbery.
* Brooke Lee Whitaker, 25, sale of schedule II, delivery of schedule II, conspiracy to sell and distribute schedule II, failure to appear (two counts), theft under $500, forgery (two counts).
* William James Scales, 53, sale of schedule II (two counts), delivery of schedule II (two counts).
* Bryan Ray Phillips, 24, theft over $10,000.
* Joe Robert Brown, 20, theft over $500 (six counts), aggravated burglary (six counts).
* Dustin Mark Parham, 24, false/fraudulent insurance claims.
* Frankie Kelly McGowan, 45, aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000 (three counts), burglary (two counts), felon in possession of a weapon.
* Tony Glenn McGowan, 21, burglary, theft over $1,000.
* Debra Diane Ward, 49, aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000.
* Kortney Elizabeth Painter, 18, theft over $500, (six counts), aggravated burglary (six counts).
* Daniel Steven Lyall, 34, criminal trespass, aggravated assault (two counts).
* Derek Sherman Stanley, 23, aggravated burglary, theft ($1,000 - $10,000).
* Justin Franklin Baker, 24, possession schedule VI for resale, possession schedule VI for delivery, possession of drug paraphernalia.

No one is ruining his life but Mr Hardin. He did a fine job of smearing his own name all by himself. Justice for all should also include the victim, right? The point of the story was that he WAS indicted and bound over and for some unknown reason he was not in front of the grand jury during this session. Give me a break fair trial lets just see WHEN he goes to trial. WE WILL BE WATCHING.

Simply amazing that the lead story on people who were indicted starts with a man who was not. Seems like the Times Gazette and others are taking every opportunity available to smear this man. How on earth can he ever get a fair trial when he is presented as this villian? Seems like someone is truly out to ruin his life...which they have certainly done. He could never work for the justice system again, cleared or not. He has already been tried and convicted in this paper and by the powers that be.
