* Three persons were charged after Officer Waymond Boyd said he smelled marijuana in a Couch Lane home.
"I asked who was smoking marijuana," Boyd said. "Karl Kerry McCoy II stood up and said he was smoking marijuana, and then he pulled a plastic bag from his left pocket that continued approximately 29.07 grams of marijuana."
McCoy, 36, of West Lane Street, told Boyd he obtained the substance at a Shelbyville motel room.
The room was occupied by Brandy Michelle Holden, 25, Mt. Lebanon Road, and William Dale Pirtle, 25, Fairfield Pike, police said. Pirtle told Boyd he had been smoking marijuana and more was in a nearby ashtray. Two marijuana cigarettes were in the ashtray, Boyd said.
Approximately 71.39 grams of marijuana were found after Holden, who had rented the room, granted permission for a search, Boyd said. Police said they confiscated $916 from a wallet in the room as evidence.
Holden and Pirtle were each charged with possession of a schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia and posted $4,000 bonds at Bedford County Jail.
McCoy, charged with possession of a schedule VI drug, posted $1,500 bond, jail records show.
* Marijuana was found in the car of a man who allegedly tried to hide from an officer before he could make a traffic stop early Thursday, police said.
Victor Tyrone Frazier Jr., 18, was clocked at 49 mph in a 36 mph zone on North Main Street, Officer Jody Shelton said.
Frazier allegedly quickly turned onto Butler Street and into a driveway and cut his car's lights off, Shelton said.
A search requested by Shelton led to discovery of a bag of marijuana in the car's console.
Frazier was charged with possession of a schedule VI drug and posted $1,500 bond at Bedford County Jail.

So... I wonder if the SPD need someone to "hold" the evidence for them? I wouldn't even mind investing it... you know, if they needed someone to do that.
Always willing to go the extra mile *grin*

One violent crime and a theft on the same day at the medical center.
What about the evidence bag/personal belonging bag and inventory that is supposed to be done by the ER staff. And then turned over to security.
