Every time the Shelbyville Sox had a productive inning at the plate, they were done in during the bottom of the very same frames by the Nashville Brewers in a 10-6 loss during a Tennessee Baseball Federation matchup on a toasty Sunday afternoon at Hillsboro High School.

Nick Batts banged a one-out double to center field in the Sox half of the third. Bo Gill drove the rookie home with a single. Stefin Reed laced a double to left with two down to plate a couple more scores and gave the visitors a 3-0 advantage.

The Brewers answered right back in the bottom of the third with five runs to gain their first lead.

Joey Simmons reached via an error at third base to start the seventh off for Shelbyville (5-11). Brennan Whitson and Tyler Bowman followed with singles to load the bases for Donnie Cruse, who grounded into a fielder's choice. The throw from second base that would have doubled up Cruse went wide and allowed two runs to score. Josh Simmons singled to center to plate Cruse and put the Sox up 6-5.

The Brew Crew plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh, three of which came on one play when Shelbyville committed a pair of errors.

Losing pitcher Garrett Wagner worked 6 1/3 innings and blanked Nashville in five frames.

The Sox send veteran right-hander Danny Parker (2-3) to the mound on Wednesday night against the Nashville Blazers in hopes of righting the ship. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 at Cascade High School in Wartrace.
