Tigerettes put damper on Viqueens' home debut

Sunday, September 7, 2008

When it rains, it pours.

Community High's girls soccer team fell 6-1 to district foe Marshall County in the Viqueens' first-ever home game Friday night. The Tigerettes poured it to the Viqueens along with the drenching rain that started to fall early in the first half and remained throughout the game.

Striker Allyse Reese had the lone tally for the Viqueens, scoring off an assist from Autumn Derryberry.

The Viqueens (1-1) host Webb Tuesday at 6.

Community JH 4, Liberty 0: The Viqueens took charge early in Friday's Central Tennessee Conference matchup when Kristen Brothers scored off an assist from Ali Armstrong four minutes into the game.

Community tallied again at the 8:57 mark when Kali Sitz intercepted a Patriot goal kick, scoring unassisted.

The visitors' defense held the Viqeens for the rest of the half but couldn't get their offense going

Liberty's goalie made several spectacular saves in the second half to hold off Community.

With 4:08 remaining, Viqueen midfielder Abi Armstrong, finally got a shot through.

Courtney Williams followed with 3:10 left, scoring off a Kristen Brothers assist.

Community (6-0-1) travels to Cascade Monday at 4:30.
