Muggers attack, rob man on Belmont

Sunday, September 14, 2008

A young Shelbyville man told police two men attacked him and stole his wallet and cell phone as he walked along Belmont Avenue early Thursday night.

Police said a man fitting the description of one of the victim's attackers appeared to be hiding from officers, but the victim couldn't positively identify him.

The victim, while being treated at the scene for facial injuries, told Officer Tory Moore several white males clad in baggy clothing attacked.

"They struck him multiple times and threw him to the ground where he was then kicked in the face," Moore said in his report. "They took his wallet and his mobile phone and fled on foot."

The victim told Moore one of the men was larger than the other and wore baggy, white shirts.

Officer Gregg Loyd said he saw a man matching the description enter a nearby duplex and "peek out of the window multiple times," Moore said.

After police knocked on the door, the man "waited an unusual amount of time" before answering with his hands raised and stating he was unarmed, Moore's report said.

The man seemed nervous and had swollen, tender knuckles and a scratch consistent with a wound suffered during a scuffle, Moore said.

A white 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen from the parking lot of Abundant Life Church, Landers Street, between 5:45 and 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Shelbyville police said.

What is a schedule II drug?

What is a schedule VI drug?

What is a "legend" drug?

What about the other roman numeral schedule drugs? What are they? I'm assuming pot and coke but don't really know...

I think that these people should be made to stand on the busiest street corner in Shelbyville or somewhere like at the entrance to the parking lot at Walmart wearing a huge sandwich-board sign that tells what their offense is. Example of a sign would be " My name is Colene. I am a drunk without a job and I have been arrested for fighting and being drunk in public". And dont let these people sit in jail with airconditioning, TV, being fed and a bed...have them out in town in their orange jump suits mowing or picking up trash.

I'm not sure what legend drugs are, but probably some type of presciption drug they can't identify at the time of the arrest.

The problem with the judicial system is..... it is all about the money. It doesn't require "rehabilitation" in any shape form or fashion. You see the same people in the paper over and over; However, there is NOTHING that will change a person until they get ready to change. And the answer.... I wish I knew... I have met people from all walks of life and they change their lives over different things. Some find God, or maybe God finds them. Other people loose family members and change to hold tight to other family members. There is no cookie cutter answer as to WHY some of these people do this dumb stuff, but they do. It is a possible that they were born in the wrong place.... or maybe the wrong time frame. I can't imagine life during the civil war.

Our children today are spoilt. We give them what we did not have... and they respond by demanding MORE. Most would not know a hards day work and would consider just being out in the sun a hardship. What do they learn when they screw up and get sent to Juvie as a juvenile? More that what they knew when they went in.

When I read the ages on the police blotter I have to wonder WHY and WHAT HAPPENED to make older people behave in "STUPID MODE". Did they loose their job, spouse, child, parents, car.... why is it that they do the dumb stuff?

The drug charges are the real "question" of the day... I have been told, "If you are not an addict, you wouldn't understand!" They are correct.... I do NOT understand. What makes a person sell "anything" including the property that belongs to another person, their body, the car which their parents mortgage their house to buy for them.... just to get just one more high.... what is so bad about life that you don't want to remember it? I have had some pretty crappy days... but there is no way I will pump anything into my body like that!

And to the American Woman... I wish that "SHAME" would make a person change, but it has not been proven to work. To the physiologists who treat these patients... I hope you get them on the right tract... but since you have the highest suicide rate by profession... one has to wonder what is wrong in the world today..

A lot of times age, doesn't mean maturity and responsibility. Sometimes you find older people that like to hang out with younger people because of their maturity level. Their mind and desires are still stuck on teenage years. When teen agers are bored, they find it is exciting to do things they are not suppose to do. Also the influence of others, and the lifestyle or enviroment they are around can contribute to how they think, believe, and live.

syd37160, "scheduling" of drugs is a way to classify them. Marijuana is Schedule VI, Crack and Meth are Schedule II, Ecstacy, PCP, & LSD are Schedule I..not all prescription drugs are Legend drugs. Some like hydrocodone and oxycodone (morphine based drugs) are schedule II due to their chemical make-up. You can go to the state website and look up the TN Code Annotated and it explains what drugs are what schedule as well as the punishments...punishment is typically determined by how much of the drug is found. Althought Schedule I drugs are almost always Class A felonies regardless of weight. TN has added some new stricter laws which are based on how close the offender was to a school at the time he was selling drugs...VERY serious offense by the way.
