BOBBY PARKER
Bobby L. Parker Sr. has announced his candidacy for a First Ward seat on Shelbyville City Council in the Nov. 4 general election.

Parker is a lifelong resident of Bedford County and a retired brick mason. He is a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local No. 5. He has been in construction for 45 years and ran his own business for 25 years.

Parker is married to the former Linda K. Neese and has four sons and a stepdaughter. He and his wife attend Eastview Baptist Church.

"I think the town can be cleaner than it is now," said Parker. "I believe the town can be safer than it is now. I am ready to work at getting some industries here. I am ready to go to work on the budget in order to get it balanced and try to keep it that way. I will do my part in holding down spending.

"I will treat all of you the same. I can and will devote whatever time it takes to be an effective councilman. All I ask of you is to give me the chance."
