And they said that the new hospital would serve our community better in a new facility?

Actions speak louder than words and I will continue to go to Harton or MTMC.

One thing's for sure... their billing department is just as, if not more, inept than before. They're giving my insurance company the run around over a bill. What else is new?

My mother recently had a stay in the new hospital. The facility was clean, up-to-date and the nurses were all young, energetic, professional and attentive. All in all her stay which lasted for a week, was a pleasant one. I think we should give this new facility a chance to establish its own reputation, and quit judging it in the light of its predecessor. One only has to remember the old facilty ( or visit the nursing home) to be reminded of how much better the facilites are now than formerly. I do agree that there are problems with the NES billing service. I have actually been billed, harassed, turned over to a very abrupt collection company for a service done in 2005 that I had DOCUMENTED proof that the bill had been paid. I had a flashback recently, for I received a second billing from them for a visit to the ER I had already paid for in July. I do think that their bookkeeping and billing system should be analyzed. If I get overbilled twice each time I go, how many other people get overbilled and pay it, especially when billing companies start their strong-arm procedures?

Can't blamed them. This is a business and if everyone is going to other counties for OB, then why keep a wing open that's loosing money.

At least the county doesn't own it.

BTW... had to take my child to the new ER. Clean, nice and staff were polite. Much different than the days when the Bedford Co ER looked like a madhouse.
