The Cougars (10-5) scored the only point at 19:15 in the first half with a goal in the upper left netted by striker Keilani Murr. This was the result of a free kick given to the Lady Cougars because of an unfortunate hand ball call against Webb.
The second half was strictly a defensive match. Lady Feet goalie Katie Griffin had four saves and the defensive backs held up strong. They didn't allow MTC to get in a lot of positions to score or even shoot on the goal.
"Even when we seemed disarrayed, we weren't worried," coach Adrian Anderson said. "We covered for each other from the midfield to the back."
The Lady Feet improved on last week's 2-0 loss to USN in their passing game, but there are still more hurdles to tackle.
"They were a lot better today then they were last week against USN," Anderson said. "We've got to start making the through ball passes to players who are looking for through balls and playing feeder players who are looking for the feet. Right now we're playing the opposite. The transfer from midfield to attack has lost accuracy."
Katie Jones and Melissa Wisniewski are setting the standards for this team's offensive struggle and have shown great leadership in improving the Lady Feet.
"The touches they got and passes they got were really great," Anderson said. "(They were) making targets and containing the ball. The balls that were coming back weren't where they were supposed to be."
Webb (4-3-2) goes on the road to play Sewanee next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
