Webb Middle falls in Huntland

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Webb Middle's boys dropped their second game of the season after being on the bad end of a 34-23 outcome at Huntland Middle on Tuesday night.

The Hornets jumped out to a slim 9-8 advantage in the first quarter and carried a 13-11 upper hand into the break. That lead grew to 24-19 after three periods.

Webb coach James Garcia noted that his team improved their man-to-man defense from their season opener, but they were unable to come down with enough rebounds in the second half.

Ethan Arnold paced the Bell Buckle boys with 10 points. Huntland's Jason Stewart had 10 as well.

Huntland 42, Webb 33 (G): The Lady Feet outscored their hosts 16-5 in the final quarter and got 24 points from Karly Grissom, but it wouldn't be enough.

Webb coach Ricky Dycus said his team is much-improved facing opposing full-court pressure, but their lack of size and depth is hurting them in the paint.

Huntland eased to out an 11-10 advantage in the first frame and improved that margin to 27-15 by the half.

Ashley Owens was the Lady Hornets top scorer with 16.

Webb heads to Murfreesboro to battle Middle Tennessee Christian Middle on Thursday with the girls game tipping off at 6 p.m.
