Bedford County's voters have supported Republican candidate John McCain for president, incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon, incumbent Republican State Sen. Jim Tracy and incumbent Democratic State Rep. Curt Cobb.

In Shelbyville City Council races, incumbent Jo Ann Holland defeated Bobby Lee Parker Sr. to retain her First Ward seat; appointed incumbent Kay Rose defeated challenger Chad Graham to retain her Third Ward seat; and Jean Pruitt unseated incumbent Randy Vernon to return to the Fifth Ward seat she previously held.

See preliminary precinct-by-precinct results, not including absentee ballots, here.

I just want to say that I was denied the right to vote and I am a born and bred AMERICAN citizen!!Also, I am registered- have the card to prove it but because I have not voted since being registered, I was PURGED from the system in 2005?! I truly feel like my rights were taken away, whether or not I voted EVER, I wanted to vote this time and was denied even with a voter's registration card. Just wondering how many illegals voted legal today?! It is my right whether I chose to vote or not, even if I chose to only vote in one election, right? What has America become? And by the way I called the election committee and I was not treated with respect as a matter of fact, the ladies were hateful and rude!! Thanks Bedford County for not allowing my vote to count!!! Maybe you should let someone know when they are PURGED!!!

So, the corporate welfare proponents Alexander and Gordon have been re-elected? Wonderful. If you think the $700,000,000,000 bailout was a lot, wait until the next round. Gotta pay those corporate executives out of someone's pocket...might as well be the taxpayers.

If you think things are bad now, just wait and see what the next four years will be like.

That's a relatively fair statement.. since it will take at least that long to clean up 8 years of pure wasteful spending, and reckless alliances.

jssg1975, I understand your frustration, but it is YOUR fault that you have not voted. Do you really think the election commission should hold on to the info for someone who has NEVER voted?! Get real...that's just too much info to store. Maybe you should exercise your right to vote a bit more and whine a bit less.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE RULES BUT MY POINT IS THAT I AM REGISTERED, I DO HAVE A VOTER'S CARD SO THEREFORE I THOUGHT I COULD VOTE!! IS THAT NOT HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS? AGAIN, IT IS MY RIGHT AS AN AMERICAN TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!

I agree with cordell. These next four years are not oging to be good. God have mercy on this country. We are in scary times.

jssg1975,

You weren't allowed to vote, because you were purged for inactivity (I thought the fact that this happens was common knowledge), yet you believe that illegal immigrants WERE allowed to vote?

That's quite a leap, in my opinion. It's completely illogical and contradictory.

66,000,000 people seem to think the same thing about the previous 8 years.

What's bad is that a person has been elected President who would be unable to get a security clearance to be a baggage handler at an airport. And he is going to be in charge of the most powerful nation in the world (for now)!
