Cascade Middle hands Wayne Co. first loss

The Rotary Thanksgiving Classic battle treated the Lady Champs right in the first period, scoring 11 points collectively by Elora Skuce, Haley Edmonson and Haylee Simpson. Wayne County was only held to a field goal.

The Lady Champs banked seven points in the second, including another 3-pointer by Skuce. This was answered by a Wayne County 12-point run, ending in a locker session that had a Lady Champs lead of 18-14.

In the third, Cascade held the Waynesboro girls to a mere three points behind a swarming defense.

Skuce netted another 3, accompanied with field goals by Edmonson, Simpson and Kelsey Feck.

With a considerable lead, the Lady Champs only allowed Wayne County five points in the fourth and hit the boards with 10 points.

"Wayne County was undefeated 'til they played us," coach Chad Spencer said. "We got a good win, and got some kids good minutes to get us ready for tournaments."

Cascade goes to Community Junior High on Thursday night at 6.
