Vehicles burglarized at Shelbyville store

Two sizeable thefts from vehicles have been reported at Kroger, North Main Street, during the past week.

* A handbag containing prescription drugs and personal documents were taken Sunday, according to Shelbyville police.

The car had been left unlocked with a window partially down, the report said.

* An estimated $300 worth of medicine was stolen during the day Wednesday, May 13, from a vehicle at Kroger, North Main Street, police said.

The car's owner told police she thought she had locked the vehicle, which was unlocked upon her return.

Shelter scuffle

Two men who were thrown out of a Shelbyville homeless shelter for allegedly possessing alcohol forced their way into the home Saturday morning and took $75, police said.

The suspects, a man and woman, shoved shelter personnel aside in an attempt to regain their personal property and took $45 from a resident manager's purse and $30 from the shelter's gas fund before leaving when told police had been called, the report said.

Homes entered

* An estimated $200 was taken overnight Sunday from a car inside a locked garage on Daytona Lane, police said.

Entry was gained by prying the garage door, according to the report.

* A cell phone, global positioning system and cologne were stolen from the bedroom of a Southwood Drive home between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, police said.

A resident told police his daughter had forgotten to lock the doors.

* Four DVD movies and medication were stolen Friday from a Hawkins Drive residence, police said.

* A wallet and contents were taken from a vehicle at a Carter Street home between 12:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Friday, and a toolbox and contents from another Carter Street residence overnight Friday, police said.

* Clothing and school supplies were stolen from a Green Lane apartment last week, police were told.

Ex-roommates who had been ordered to move due to alleged drug use are suspected, officers said.

Thefts

* Two thefts were reported at The Market Place, North Cannon Boulevard, last week.

Eighteen small plants were stolen overnight Thursday and a white petunia overnight Friday, police said.

The owner asked officers to try and prevent drivers from using the store's parking lot as a turnaround point.

* The license plate, registration and insurance papers were stolen from a car at Daniel's Auto Clinic, Deery Street, during the day Friday, police were told.

Jail intake

Michael Kelley, 49, of Bottle Hollow Road, says he is not the Michael Kelley, 26, who was listed in a recent jail intake.
