Deadbolt doesn't stop burglary

Thursday, June 4, 2009
A deadbolt lock didn't prevent a burglary at Forest Hills Apartments on Tuesday, Shelbyville police said.

The victims, a husband and wife, told police a large-screen television, Playstation II, Nintendo games, Dell Inspiron laptop computer, iPod and Kodak digital camera were gone when they arrived home.

The couple had left for work at 2 p.m., they told police, were sure they'd locked the door and had to unlock the deadbolt upon arrival. Pry marks on the door, which the victims said were new, were discovered by an officer.
