Scotty Wisniewski, son of Donna and Gary Wisniewski of Murfreesboro, and a senior at Webb, was the recipient of the 2009 John R. Freeman Award, named in memory of the Webb student-athlete who was killed in a car accident in 2003.

The award is given to the student who "best models the joy of sport and competition, a high level of effort and achievement, and a keen sense of integrity and sportsmanship."

Based on these merits, Wisniewski received a unanimous vote from the coaches at the school and was honored at the sports banquet.

A lacrosse player since middle school, Wisniewski has been the captain of the varsity squad for the past two years as the team's goalie. A natural leader on the field, he was seen directing formations to his teammates at pivotal moments during the game.

Wisniewski will be attending Georgetown University this fall with plans to major in pre-medicine.
