Authorities want to question man at store

A man described by authorities as a "person of interest" is being sought after allegedly showing up at a convenience store with lottery tickets stolen from another store.

The tickets were taken May 22 from Unionville Mini Mart, U.S. 41-A North, after the store was entered by someone who cut a hole in the cooler, Deputy Melvin Neeley, of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, said in a report.

"Somebody tried to cash them in the next day at Whiteside Market, U.S. 231 North," Detective Sgt. Brian Farris said Thursday. BCSD personnel want to talk to the man, Farris said.

"We thought we had a suspect Thursday but it turned out not to be him," Farris said. "We need the public's help in identifying the person in the video. They can call our tip line."

The person in the video will not necessarily be charged, Farris said.

Lottery tickets, blank checks and several cases of cigarettes were stolen at the Unionville store, the owner told Neeley.

An alarm system was set but not triggered, the report said.

Will not necessarily be charged, when was it left up to Det. Farris to determine which criminals to charge with a crime and which criminals not too? I always thought every criminal needed to be charged and prosecuted.

free advice, Det. Farris has to prove that this guy in the video knew the tickets were stolen before he can charge him with anytyhing. For all Farris knows this guy bought the tickets from a 3rd party. You have to wait and see what the story is...plus do you think this guy is going to come forward in Farris tells the newspaper "yeah, he's guilty and sin...we're gonna put him under the jail!" Sheesh.

Lamey....Are you saying that everybody that comes to Pop A Top looks the same.... Help me here please because I dont even understand your reasoning. I work at the Pop A Top and I have never seen this man. And further more none of the customers that come in their even resemble him. Don't know what your logic is, So please explain. All kinds of people come in their. And most are good people. Most are hard working people that just want a night out to relax from working all week. Your welcome to come in and try it out. OK FIRST OF ALL THIS MAN IS MY HUSBAND!!! WE FOUND 3 TICKETS HOOKED TOGETHER WHEN WE WERE FISHING LAST FRIDAY!!! AND LIKE ANY OTHER HUMAN IF YOU FOUND MONEY ON THE GROUND THEN YOU WOULD PICK IT UP!!!!! Lamey...lol. not hitting on ya. I am a very happily married woman. Just didn't understand where you were coming from. Glad that Carrie cleared all this up. I knew I had never seen him at the Pop A Top anyways. And as far as the sign goes. We do run a bar, and sell beer. But we try to run a very clean establishment. When you read in the paper about someone at the pop a top...most of the time we have called the police because they have done something to break the rules. We do run a strict establisment, and always will. If we even suspect you have drugs or something illegal on you, you will get the police called on you at the Pop A Top. We are totaly against it. And as far as the "Happy Birthday Jesus" on the sign. We help alot of needy kids at Christmas. We choose several familes every year to completely buy all of their Christmas every year. We do alot of benefits and raffles to raise the money we use. We have also helped cancer victims and fire victims. We just have a job like everyone else. Some people may not agree with what we do. But it is a job and it pays our bills. If we wasn't doing it, somebody else would. We continually talk people out of driving after having a few beers. But anyway your welcome to visit anytime. all things are cleared up now LAMEY so go on and on with your pathetic life and I will continue to lead an honest and respectful life....oh by the way gossip and judging is in the bible...and also may I called it pop a tops cuz I have never been there and quite frankly dont even know where it is......your opinion doesnt matter to me but i have a voice a brain and i am a strong woman....tata lamey!
