Intruders rob man at gunpoint

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Two men robbed a Shelbyville man at gunpoint in his Bridlewood Drive home Sunday, police report.

The victim told police the men forced their way into his home and ordered him to get on the floor and cover his head.

One of the men held the gun at the victim while the other searched the home for valuables, police said.

The men left with an undisclosed amount of money and a pair of tennis shoes, according to the report.

Purse snatched

A man grabbed a purse containing more than $1,000 outside a Madison Street business Sunday, police said.

The victim told police she was leaving Movie Gallery when a man, who was standing beside her car, grabbed the purse without speaking and ran behind the building toward Evans Street.

Police described the suspect as black or Hispanic, very thin and wearing a t-shirt and khaki shorts.

Bad economy + hot weather = INSANITY!!! Crime always rises during warm weather...it also increases when the economy is bad...put those two together and that is one nasty combination. Folks, lock your doors, set your car alarms, and keep your (legally owned and registered) firearms cleaned and loaded...Got a feeling this summer is not going to be a pretty one.

What a shame. In Bedford County anyone can file a warrant against another person with no real grounds!

-- Posted by weras1 on Wed, Jun 10, 2009, at 10:31 AM

Why is there only one charge for window tinting? MOST window tinting in Bedford County is illegal and zero is done about it.

-- Posted by tatersue on Wed, Jun 10, 2009, at 10:54 AM

What does window tinting have to do with this?

-- Posted by nailman on Wed, Jun 10, 2009, at 11:16 AM

I'm pretty sure most people don't get arrested for window tinting. I would say that that was just an added charges of no drivers license and no insurance that got him arrested. The windows got him pulled over.

Wish they would get some of these people for loud music instead of window tint. You stop at a red light and your car is vibrating from the sound coming from a car two or three back and it is usually rap music with obscene language.

-- Posted by Thatsmystory on Wed, Jun 10, 2009, at 2:42 PM

Thatsmystory I agree with you. I sit in my house at night trying to relax and it never fails someone comes down the road with loud music and makes my windows vibrate from the bass. They really do need to do something about it.

I believe that the economy is a scapegoat, every week the intake gets bigger. This is a small town for so many arrests. Some people say its the kids but here lately the arrests are older people dont you think you that by the time you are in your late 20s you should start growing up.

-- Posted by alwaysamomof3 on Thu, Jun 11, 2009, at 9:27 AM

well see thats why young people is getting in trouble.the older people always complains about every lil thing that we do. i mean damn give us a break. thier is nothing wrong with window tint. and thier damn sure is nothing wrong with loud music. its just that this is a lil hick town and nobody likes anything but stupid damn country music, and in this town nobody is opened minded.

-- Posted by aej1928 on Thu, Jun 11, 2009, at 10:45 PM

aej1928, When the older folks were younger, they had to listen to the older folks complain about what they did, so they have to follow the trend and complain about the younger folks too. I'm 40 years old, I like regular to moderately loud music, only if it is something that I am into of course. But music loud enough that I feel the pressure in my chest, or making things vibrate is "too" loud, and it does cause health problems.

but its ok for Police Cars to have dark tinted windows on their cars. Speed all the time! If any one else dose it in Shelbyville well they will get a fine!
