Man hurt after falling from moving three-wheeler

Thursday, June 11, 2009
A Shelbyville man was injured Wednesday afternoon after falling from what investigators describe as a homemade three-wheeler.

Joe Franklin Manus, of Fly Road, was riding on the back of the three-wheeler on Moulder Road when he fell off the back and struck his head, Deputy Todd Hammond said.

John Jason Mooneyhan, who was driving the three-wheeler, said Manus appeared to be having a seizure following the impact, Hammond was told. Manus was taken to the Mooneyhan home, on Moulder Road, and medical personnel were alerted.

Manus, who suffered a cut on the left side of his face, was conscious but appeared to have trouble remaining so, Hammond said.

The report indicated Manus was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

Hope this guy isn't hurt too bad. I was always told "if you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough"

Head injuries can be deadly, even if the person seems to be alright. My prayers for this man.
