Post 19 struggles in Columbia

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Kendall Keeton and David Horne knocked a double and a single each to support Columbia American Legion Post 19's offense as they won 13-2 over visiting Shelbyville Post 23 on Tuesday.

In the top of the third inning, back-to-back leadoff doubles from Connor Tracy and Seth Draine helped erase an early one-run deficit and put Shelbyville in front 2-1.

Columbia pitchers Jake Scott, Zach Walton and Clark Ayers wouldn't allow another run to cross for the visitors.

Later in the third, Post 19 used three hits, two walks, two errors and a plunked batter to score five times and take back the lead 6-1.

Sam Davis struck out four in three innings pitched for Post 23 before being relieved by Justin Brewer.

Davis and Michael Watkins provided the other two hits for Shelbyville.

Tyler Bigler added two hits for Post 19.

Shelbyville is back home this Thursday night at 6.
