Tractor rolls over rider

Tuesday, June 30, 2009
A Bedford County man was injured when his tractor rolled over him near Halls Mill late Monday morning.

Rick Parsons, Burnt Hill Road, was near Duck River when the tractor skidded in river gravel, Deputy Kevin Holton of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department said.

The tractor overturned, rolled over Parsons and came to rest on its wheels, Holton said.

Parsons suffered rib injuries and was taken to Bobo Stables, U.S. 41-A North, where a LifeFlight helicopter met a Bedford County ambulance and flew hima to Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to Holton.

The deputy said Parson's injuries were not life-threatening.

Hope Mr. Parsons is okay. Sounds like a terrifying experience.

Rick is such a good person. My prayers are with him and his family and I hope he recovers soon. Broken and bruised ribs are not a good thing and can be VERY LIFE THREATENING especially for someone who is already sick.

I hope Rick comes thru this. My prayers go out to him and his family. He was very lucky and could had been SO much worse.

Now, with that said....

Will SOMEONE please tell me why the fire department was NEVER dispatched to this??? I mean this was a farm machinery accident, potential fuel fire, render assistance to EMS and Life Flight, help stabilize Mr. Parsons, give an early assessment on his condition to EMS, all the things that the fire fighters are trained to do. There are members of the UVFD that live just moments away.

They will be dispatched to a wreck when someone starts complaining of their hand hurting 30 minutes AFTER the initial call, but when a tractor ROLLS OVER a man, that is not worthy of the fire departments response.???

I also wonder, were medical first responders even dispatched? When are the officials of this county going to WAKE UP?? What's it going to take?? Someone in your family is to die because of the 911 center's CONSTANT mistakes???? This 911 center is filled with the most incompetent dispatchers I have ever heard. At any given time, there is mistake after mistake after mistake made. Sometimes, within hours of each other.

I will say that, they may have rules that prevented them from dispatching this call(HA!). A wise man once told me, "Rules are made for some stupid people that can not make common sense decisions for their selves!".

And, oh by the way, another mistake was made just as I was typing this comment!! Surprise, Surprise!!!!
