The show is free and open to the public. This year's theme is "From These Roots."
"To be a federated garden club you have to have a show every two years," said Pat Hastings, club member. "Each time we have the show at different places and have different themes."
Prior to the show opening for the public, club members will bring in their flowers and arrangements to The Fly for judging.
Planning for the show is underway, but not complete, Hastings said.
Club members Margaret Hicks, Ann Spencer and Katie Felices are on the committee in charge of planning the flower show. Members will attend their annual picnic July 3 at Felices' home in Bell Buckle. At that time, Hastings said, club members will plan out the show's final details.
The Volunteer Garden Club, which has been in existence for more than 50 years, has about 35 members.
New members are always welcome, Hastings said. The club meets the first Friday of each month at the Farm Bureau building in Shelbyville.
