The shots were fired between 9 and 10 a.m. when no one was present at the church, Nerren said.

A pellet pistol or rifle may have been used, according to a Shelbyville Police Department report.

I know we are talking about a pellet gun here....... but

Do you think the people who shot out these windows had a carry permit?

Do you think if you banned permit holders from carrying weapons in church parking lots that this would not have happened?

Evil people do evil things and they do not think your laws apply to them. If they do get caught they will probably not understand what they did wrong and will try to sue the arresting officer and/or city.

I think a lot of people these days think, I'll do as I please, take what I want (even if it is not mine to take)I'll get a slap on the wrist because the jails & prisons are overcrowded and this is nothing. I will probably get summons instead of arrested with a bond because the jail is full of weekenders and people who don't pay child support.

We have a very bad cycle going on and it's not going to get better any time soon.

I just wonder if we have raised one generation without personal responsibility, who is now raising another generation without personal responsibility?

Come on people, this kind of crap was going on when I was a kid, 40 years ago. There where always the "bad" kids that got into trouble all the time. We are not witnessing anything other than a continuation of the human condition such as it always has been. The difference thsee days is we now exposed to it on a 24 7 basis, and we have access to it online, etc.

That church must be doing something right.

Thank God that no one was at the church at the time.....I am wondering if anyone is sorry that they did this? The church is not the one that these vandels will have to answer to! God help them please!

This is why we need hand gun permits. Every women and any man w/o a felony should have one to stop the crap that is going on in the small cities and the large. Everyone has the right to protect themselves, children, and property with deadly force!

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation for thought

THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY!

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,' and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'One nation under God..'

Response by John Carney:
This is inaccurate. Billy Graham never said it, nor did Paul Harvey broadcast it. Here are the facts:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/p...

Of course, that has nothing to do with the actual content of the prayer itself -- but, as a writer, it always annoys me when this kind of content is not properly attributed or is mis-attributed, a common trait among pass-along e-mails.

I wonder if they considered the nursing home residents who might have been disturbed by the attack-or if they thought of the possibility that someone might have 'inconveniently' entered their line of fire or responded with a little shooting of their own.

Too often, people who seem too inadequate to create or make positive contributions will attempt to destroy and be negative just to prove that they do exist and can make an impact.

The people who made their world a better place during that same hour may not have made headlines or gotten any recognition.

Perhaps,no one knew what they accomplished that day.

Perhaps, they themselves might never know the significance of their acts.

But,those who create, those who heal, those who make life a little happier and easier for other people or challenge us to be more thoughtful and honorable are heroes.

Their tiny, cumulative deeds contribute more than the "performance art" of fools can ever undermine.
