Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was found dead today in Nashville at a condo off Second Avenue South and Lea Avenue.

McNair was the victim of several gunshot wounds. Sahel Kazemi, 20, was found dead at the scene as well.

McNair, 36, played 13 seasons in the NFL, including 11 with Tennessee/Houston and helped guide them to the Super Bowl in 1999. He threw 174 touchdown passes and 119 interceptions for 31,304 yards while compiling an 82.8 quarterback rating.

He was the No. 3 pick in the draft in 1995 out of Alcorn State and is a native of Mount Olive, Miss.

"We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair's passing today," Titans owner K.S. "Bud" Adams Jr. said. "He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing."

The Seattle Mariners drafted McNair in the 35th round of the 1991 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft.

He was married to Mechelle in June 1997 and had four sons -- Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton. He was raised in a single-parent home by his mother Lucille with four brothers -- Fred, Tim, Jason and Michael.

This is a sad story indeed. The never ending story of a rich married man being involved with a younger woman. McNair did not deserve his fate. His death will always hurt his wife and sons more as he died in shame.

I feel though that society has allowed this behavior to become acceptable. We as a community need to speak up and say to those husbands and dads that hurt their families by having affairs and say a big loud "foul play!"

You can start in Wartrace where cheating men seem to be bountiful.
