Two traffic accidents left drivers injured Saturday night and early Sunday, investigators said.
A Lebanon man was flown to a Nashville hospital with head injuries after striking a horse on U.S. 231 in Deason, about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Jaime Barrera, 23, of Lebanon, hit one of three horses in the roadway, then ran through a fence and hit a tree, Trooper Chad McAnally said.
"The horse came across the windshield and smashed the roof," McAnally said. "The car ran off the right (south) side of the road and hit a tree.
Barrera suffered head trauma and was taken to nearby Heritage Medical Center, then flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, McAnally said. He was in stable condition Monday at VMC, a spokesperson said.
Another vehicle behind Barrera also hit the horse, McAnally said, but its occupants refused medical treatment.
* Clinton Wesley Harden, 27, Lorien Circle, told police he swerved to miss a dog, ran off Fairfield Pike and struck a utility pole shortly before 1:35 a.m. Sunday.
Harden was bleeding from the head and appeared disoriented, Officer Tory Moore noted. The car was on its side in a ditch and the pole was broken in half when officers arrived.
Harden, who told Moore he'd had three beers at a party within an hour before the accident, refused consent at the scene for a blood-alcohol test after asking if it mattered that he had "smoked a joint" the day before, according to police.
Following treatment at Heritage Medical Center, Harden was taken to Bedford County Jail and charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law, police said. Harden posted $2,000 bond, jail records indicate.
Rampage
Police threatened Taser use against a suspect who allegedly smashed windows of a residence and a car on Regent Drive early Saturday, reports indicate.
Adam Liopoldo Bravo, 20, of Fairway Green Drive, is accused of refusing arriving officers' commands to come toward them with hands up and to kneel.
Bravo was acting "aggressively" toward two women outside the home, officers said. Following the Taser threat, Bravo allegedly threw a blood-soaked bandana at officers, yelled obscene comments and "threw his hands up in a manner that is commonly seen with gang members, all the while acting in an aggressive and menacing manner," Officer Tory Moore's report said.
Bravo was eventually subdued by Sgt. James Wilkerson, police said.
The home's resident said Bravo smashed the windows following a broken relationship.
Thefts
* A compact disc player was taken from the dashboard of a truck at Walmart, North Main Street, between 3 and 4:25 a.m. Friday, Shelbyville police said.
The truck was parked on the south end of the store with a window cracked about an inch and a half, the owner told police.
* Three men looking at items for sale at a Union Street home Friday are suspected in the theft of a purse, police said.
The woman told police the men were the only persons in the home since the purse went missing.
* A gas-powered dirt bike left in the front yard of a Moreland Avenue residence, with a 'for sale' sign on it, was stolen between Thursday night and Saturday, police said.
* A second Moreland Avenue resident said four guns were stolen from a gun cabinet in his home sometime since early June.
The guns were last seen when the man was showing them to two other men, police said.
Church window broken
Another northern Shelbyville church has reported a broken window.
A window at the front of Victory Celebration Revival Church, Colloredo Boulevard, was intact at 3 p.m. Saturday and found broken by a member at 7:20 p.m., the pastor told police.
Windows were broken last week at International House of Prayer, Union Street, police said.

That is the third time someone has hit horses in that same area. My friend's husband hit one a few years ago and almost totalled his truck. Thankfully he wasn't injured badly. I bet it was the same farm that is responsible for this one as well.
We have also helped get horses off that highway just as you come over the hill where the speed limit drops to 55 coming into Deason from Christiana. I called 911 for assistance with slowing down traffic that night, to no avail because the traffic just kept flying by. Eventually the horses took up on the west side of the highway. No one claimed them that night. If this is the same area, it is a shame no one cares enough about the horses to keep them up, or about the lives of the passing motorists. Will it take a death before someone keeps the fence up or the gate latched?
lol Bravo for Bravo! a horse ran into the windshield! hope he gets to doing better. as well as my cousin clint. im sure hes mad about his car but hope he gets better too.
the crazy stuff that happens in this town!Bravo should have stopped for the taser gun.people shold keep thier horses up and various other comments id love to make as well lol
Mommy_of_2_girls:
Your computer license should be revoked. Not only are you unable to put together a coherent sentence, you also got the stories of the two separate accidents mixed up.
As a long-time horse owner I understand both the responsibilities and problems of keeping horses under control. When the investigation finds out to whom the horses belong that person should be able to show that he/she(1) had reasonable fencing, (2)insurance, and (3) the horses were adequately cared for - to see if the horses had a reason to want to get out. If the person(s) responsible did not have reasonable fencing and/or were not caring for the horses then I have no problem with Barrera suing the owners. On the other hand, I hope investigators also look at the possibility that someone else caused the horses to spook and run through the fence, or perhaps even cut the fence for the purpose of letting the horses out.

HONEY GO BACK AND REREAD AND REALIZE YOU READ IT WRONG! LOL! bravo fo r bravo and horses into the windshield are two separate sentences.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ATTEMPTING TO INSULT ME BUT LOL , U ONLY MADE YOUR SELF LOOK MORE STUPID!
Well, well, well the Bedford County 911 center had a great 4th. They must have been watching the fireworks shows and eating bar-b-que, because dispatching was the last thing they were doing.
Where should I start? How about a grass fire around 2280 41-A N.? The Unionville Fire Department was NEVER dispatched to and is clearly in the UVFD district. Fortunately there were firefighter at the Unionville station and they responded on their own to this call.
Now, regarding the accident on 231 N. Another one if the 911 centers many mistakes. The main county fire station in town, the Bell Buckle Fire Department and First Responders were NEVER dispatched!! Yes, I know there are fire fighters in the picture. That is only because they were listening to the radios and heard the radio traffic, therefore they responded on their own. These 2 mistakes happened within approx. 1 hour of each other.
I know some of you are reading this and thinking that I am just here stirring up trouble. But how is it stirring trouble, when these mistakes happen on a regular basis?? I just want to make these mistakes known to keep the public informed and maybe someday, someone will use this to their benefit should the need arise.
Yall are so ignorant. It was the 4th. Fireworks were going off all over the place. If we should blame anyone for the horses getting out, it should be the people shooting fireworks.
I know the people who own the horses. The horses broke out of the fence because they were spooked.
And, they did claim them that night. Most of the family was out of town, but the youngest daughter and her friends chased down horses all night long after they got home from the fireworks.
What the paper didn't know, is the person who had to go to the hospital was arrested after he was released from the hospital because there were warrants out for his arrest, and he was driving without a license or insurance.
And mommy of 2 girls...you can't spell, and you don't know how to capitalize after punctuation.

I think you should have more to worry about than someones punctuation. there are many people who do that on here due to needing to fit all of thier comment in the small box. thank you as well for trying to insult me. but u like like trailrider, are amusing. maybe you should spend more of your time helping your friends keep up with their horses because animal control should have them. your friends let them run wild in the middle of the night endangering the lives of drivers.
I agree. Mommy's 'net license should definitely be revoked... and soon. How does using a capital letter at the beginning of a new sentence affect your ability to leave all of your comment in the small box? You are right about your first comment. It is two separate sentences. If you'd used a capital letter along with the punctuation, that would have been obvious to the reader. Where were you educated?

have u been smoking more than your share?? when it is done ON my cell, the box only allows a certaiN amount of characters. you are amusing. AND WHERE WERE U EDUCATED? ????????
The majority of my education was privately, and independently garnered. I also use a mobile phone, so I do understand what you say about being allotted only a certain amount of characters. However, my phone makes no distinction between capital and lower case letters. Each one is only one character.
lol. Dont try to defend yourself now. You already made yourself out to be a fool. LMFAO!
