White continues to impress

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Jonathan White is doing everything in his power to show the San Francisco Giants organization that they made a wise decision in taking him in June's First-Year Player Draft.

The former Shelbyville Central and Vanderbilt outfielder/designated hitter singled twice in five at-bats while both driving in and scoring a run to help the Arizona League Giants defeat the Arizona League Brewers 5-4 Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound White upped his batting average to .324, raised his OPS to .904 and hit in the three-hole versus the Brewers.

He also has a home run and a total of eight RBIs to his credit.

White was selected by the Giants in the 40th round with overall pick No. 1,197.

In his final season at Vanderbilt, he hit .266 with two homers and 19 RBIs to go with 18 stolen bases in only 21 attempts.
