Open houses set at county schools

Bedford County Board of Education officials have set the date for two new school open houses in the days to come.

A ribbon cutting for Community High School, 1140 Unionville-Deason Road, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in its theater. A parent/student orientation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

An open house for Learning Way Elementary, located at 200 Learning Way Drive, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 in the play gym.

The public is invited to attend these open houses. Following brief ceremonies, all are welcome to tour the new schools.

"I want our public to come out and see what they have gotten for their tax dollars," said Amy Martin, school board member.

Additional open houses

Cascade Elementary, 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9

Cascade High School (sixth grade), 2:15 p.m. Aug. 9, senior parents 3 p.m.

Central (incoming freshmen and their parents), 5-7 p.m. Aug. 7

Community Elementary, 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 9

Eakin, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 9

East Side, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9

Harris Middle, 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6

Liberty, 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7

Southside, 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9

Thomas Magnet, 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 9

is there a dress code to attend open house?

Of course they left out Community Middle School (located at the old high school).

It's open house will be August 9 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Every other school was mentioned.

Thomas Magnet School's open house has a misprint. It is actually from 2-5p.m.
