"The student council will be conducting tours as well as handing out schedules so the students can go around with their schedule and visit their classes," said Miriam Pietkiewicz, council advisor. "Student council members will also be placed around the school to answer any questions."
Student council officers have met several times this summer. They have been organizing for elections, preparing for the open house and working on implementing the year's theme.
Parents are encouraged to attend the open house with their children.
"It's very important that parents come and help their child get used to the new school," Pietkiewicz said.
"It will make their transition smoother," said Martha Pitner, student council secretary.
Teachers will be present to meet new students and answer questions. Copies of the dress code will be available. The administration will be collecting parent e-mail addresses for an online newspaper to be sent periodically throughout the year.
"We are excited for the upcoming year and we want to welcome the freshmen and new students. We hope to make this year very successful," said student council president Bailie Martin.

A good reporter would also have also given information about open houses at other schools in the county.
Well this article was about Central's open house not every other school in the county. And give Micky a break she's just starting out reporting for goodness sake. I think she did a good job!!!
Guess they both forgot to tuck their blouses in. It is gonna get ugly this year with the "NEW Dress code".
Every school submits their own open house informtion to the Times Gazette. A SCHS representative called the t-g and asked that they come out and interview the student council on Friday night's open house for freshmen and new students. If you need information on other open houses in Bedford County you should contact the school your child is attending.
...and i'm sure they dont have thier shirts tucked in because it is still summer, but I can assure you that after August 10th they will have them tucked in. :)
Union.... I knew someone would make a statement like that no matter how silly the statement is.
As a teacher of nearly forty years, about a decade at CHS,
I think the tucked-in shirts idea is the silliest, most ridiculous violation of personal freedom i have heard in all my years. For casual wear and working in yard, I like shirts that don't have to be tucked in. Because so many parents (and I'm sure other people as well, object to this harebrained rule, I think those people who came up with the idea should reconsider and strike it from the code!
