These are young people to be admired. They are being taught or already have learned that life is not just about you but it is about what you contribute. God bless them and their families.

sound s like the 47 yr.old could take some lessons from the 7 yr.old

UMM...Am I the only one smart enough to notice that they misspelled "Samaritan" on the sign? I mean come on, it's the name of the big corporation they're allegedly raising money for! Seems pretty shady if you ask me. I think I'll continue purchasing my over-priced sugar water from Kroger, where at least they're honest about where the money is going. I swear, the gullibility of people is disturbing.

As the mother of that 7 year old...she made the sign herself and put a lot of hard work into it. I think she did a pretty good job at trying to spell it for a 2nd grader. Please rest assured "resentful mother" that the $133 that she raised will be turned into Good Sam on Monday morning...as will the other $133 that someone anonymously matched. Good Day.

Please Resentful Parent! Did you interview this young lady and her family before casting aspersions? Do you know the child to be a con artist? Why are you so angry? Even if she is raising money for an organization you don't like, this little girl is a role model to those older than her for her generosity of spirit, creative energy, and her level of commitment. Give her a break! And give her the respect she deserves.

All that resentment is going to poison you from the inside. Don't poison a child's attempt to do something worthwhile...and try not to poison the social environment for the rest of us...Please.

God bless you and give you inner peace.

It's wonderful that these children could raise that much with their lemonade stand and that someone matched their total. In these times, Good Sam surely has a difficult time meeting the community's needs.

Resentful Parent, Your attitude is way to prevalent in our community. That is why we have trouble moving ahead but there is one thing I gotta give ya.....there is no false advertising of your self description.........

Great Job Little Miss Charlee Davis! I am glad the Mother posted on here in the defense of her child. Resentful Parent may feel they are smart for noticing a misspelling, but their comment makes them sound the opposite of what they "Thought" they were....

It is really sad that people say discouraging things to people when they are trying to benefit "Others", someone other than themselves. Teaching children how to give and help improve the well being of others is not only educational but also spiritually uplifting. God Bless the Davis family for your time and service.

Well, of course the criticism is coming from the same person who complained about those nice people winning the free gas contest from the BP..Clearly, this person has nothing better to do than poo poo everything everyone tries to do. It's really sad that people are like this. I would just like to say to Charlee Davis Thank you for raising money for this great cause and you have inspired my little girls to see what they can do to help the community in these hard times.

I was very disturbed after reading the comment of the resentful parent how can you be so dishearted this little girl stood out in the heat trying to make extra money to support a group that helps alot of people in this town be very careful it may be you needing help some day

As the parents of Sarah Jones and friends of the Davis family, we are very proud of what our two girls did. I was at the lemonade stand and didn't even realize the word was spelled incorrectly because I was more excited about what they were doing for the community. Charlee Davis had a great idea and Sarah was more than happy to assist her. I know that the money will be put to good use at the Good Samaritan. It saddens my heart that there are people out there that would think that they would be planning on keeping the money themselves. Thank you Charlee and Sarah for being the kind hearted children that you are.

I would love to meet you Ms. Resentful Parent. Before you begin reading this blog, I want to forewarn you of my grammatical errors I'm about to share with you. See I'm not the best speller either so please feel free to rip at me for my mistake. You can honestly sit on your high horse here in SHELBYVILLE and cause a fuss over this cause. First off, man up and put your name. You mask your identity, in my book that labels you as a COWARD. Did you put a sting operation at the Davis household and bug the phones and found out that the $133 dollars were going to buy booze and drugs for Charlee and Sarah. Hell these kids could care less about the good SAMARITON. Oh god!. hold your breath i actually made a mistake and mispelled a word..Ma'am you enjoy your sugar water from kroger. Yes babe they are honest with their sales. Their money made goes to put up more and more kroger co. stores around the world. Lets take a look at the list of kroger stores. Kroger,Ralphs,King Soopers,Dillons,City market, blah blah..PLUS ms resentful parent. they have a chain of jewelry stores..I BET the money made on your sugar water goes to buy black diamonds from slave worker children in Cambodia who work all day long for 3 rice patties a day. Get a life and stop being a coward and hiding behind a no name blog and complaining about a good deed done by two CHILDREN.I bet your kids hung the moon you loser!!! Who are you to judge.

These two young ladies took it upon themselves to work out in the summer heat in the name of community service. How can anyone find anything negative to say about that????

-- Posted by carolynn on Mon, Aug 10, 2009, at 3:28 PM

Ms. Resentfil Parent, first I would like to say I am not good at spelling myself and I am over 40, I guess not everyone is perfect like you seem to think you are. Secound how sad your life must be to always see the worst in people and not just grown people, but 7 year old girls that are trying to do good in the world. You on the other hand are not doing good but are in fact trying to hurt a very special little girl that I happen to know and love. Since God tells us to love our enemy (as I see someone that would attack an innocent child) I will pray for you.

If I were you I would get all my facts before speewing your bitterness.

To that rude comment from Resentful Parent. We gave EVERY cent to that organization. Even though you "assumed" without knowing anything. And you can go ahead and drink that CRAPPY Kroger sugar water. but i know good and well that the lemonade we sold was MUCH better. I think Charlee Davis( The seven yr old you judged for misspelling a word! Big Freaking Deal) had a wonderful idea about that lemonade stand and should be recognized instead of criticized by people like you who judge everything.

Also, what if it was your children doing this. Would you want your children treated the same way you just treated someone else's little girl??

Signed: Sarah Jones

And i also want to thank John Carney for taking time out of his day to take a picture of us and write about it.

to Resentful Parent:

Charlee is 7 years old! She can't be expected to spell everything right. She did a good job on that sign. I bet when you were seven years old you didn't know how to spell samaritan. And again she's 7 years old. Yeah she seems very shady. I'm sure the lemonade stand was just a covre to raise money for all the drugs they were going to buy. And why would you even bring up it being over-priced? The lemonade was free. Donations were accepted. They were being honest about where the money is going. I swear, the stupidity of people like you is disturbing.

XD Resentful Parent is hilarious, lol. Seriously, all these people getting all bent out of shape over his comment...it's funny! I even heard some woman complaining about this while I was at the hospital the other day. Really, people, you need to learn when someone's being serious, and when someone's just trying to rustle people's feathers.
