The victim's wallet, containing $300, and cell phone were taken while he was on the ground being beaten, Officer Jose Garza said.
Police said the victim, 23, who lives on Purdy Court, was notified by telephone that "they had girls there" on South Maple Street and he needed to come over.
The victim stepped out of his vehicle on arrival and was met by an assailant who "started talking trash to him and pushing him around," Garza said.
After the victim threw the attacker to the ground two other men pushed the victim down, kicked and punched him, police said. The initial attacker then hit the victim in the forehead with a pistol before taking the phone and money, Garza said.
The victim, who was able to run to his car and escape, notified police after arriving home, Garza said.
