Poll workers at the Courthouse precinct wait for their first customer this morning; there was not a single voter in line when the polls opened at 9 a.m. A light turnout seems likely for today's special primary elections for the vacant 62nd District Tennessee House of Representatives seat. Four candidates -- Joseph Byrd, Pat Marsh, Bobby Scott and Casey Walters -- are competing in the Republican primary, with Ty Cobb II unopposed in the Democratic primary. One voter dropped by the courthouse precinct just after 9 a.m. but discovered she was at the wrong precinct location. Polls remain open until 7 p.m. at all of the normal locations; election results will be posted to the Times-Gazette web site, t-g.com, this evening as they become available.
