Lady Feet kick Huntland

Wednesday, September 2, 2009
Webb's ladies ventured to Huntland for a soccer match Tuesday afternoon and returned home with a 5-0 victory.

"The team played real well," Webb coach Adrian Anderson said. "The defense was really solid, kept the ball in front of us the entire time. We passed the ball really well out of the back up to the midfield."

Claire Coope got the scoring started with a penalty kick won by Candler Huddleston. Katie Jones scored on a free kick in the 35th to put the Lady Feet up 2-0 at halftime.

"It was a really skinny field, but we still managed to find space. We were asleep a little in the first half and had a lot of chances to put them away," said Anderson, who noted the solid play of substitutes as the game reached the latter stages.

Coope thinned the twine for the second time thanks in part to a corner kick via Jones shortly into the second half. Karly Grissom provided a goal on an assist from Aurora MacDougall. Anne Windham took advantage of a penalty kick to notch the final score with just over 20 minutes to play.

Caroline Smith tallied three saves in the shutout.

The Lady Feet head back out in search of another triumph at Cornersville on Thursday at 4:30.
