Early Cascade lead doesn't hold up

Friday, September 11, 2009

Jessica Popp scored unassisted midway through the first half to give Cascade a 1-0 lead over Middle Tennessee Christian in Murfreesboro on Thursday.

That advantage didn't hold up long as the Lady Cougars found their rhythm, defended their home field and won it 2-1.

Lady Champion coach Monica Lewis was pleased with her team's effort as they banged out 19 shots on goal in the first half alone but admitted that their timing was off slightly.

MTC improved to 4-0-1 overall and 3-0 in District 11-A/AA, while Cascade goes to 1-2, 1-1.

Kayla Carden manned the nets for the Lady Champs, who next play Community in Unionville on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
