* A Shelbyville couple told officers a near-miss led to an attack by occupants of another vehicle Saturday night at the Landers Street-White Street intersection.
The man and his wife said they were attacked after driving around two cars which were parked in the roadway and almost colliding with an oncoming white Lincoln Continental.
Both victims told police they were struck in the face by three men who got out of the Lincoln.
The victims were checked at the scene by Bedford County Emergency Medical Service. The man suffered a possible broken nose but husband and wife refused treatment, police said.
* One driver allegedly tried to cause a following driver to ram his vehicle Friday night, police said.
Luis Moreno Perez, 23, Bridlewood Drive, nearly caused a wreck by repeatedly slamming his brakes on Madison Street Friday night, police said.
Perez, who allegedly verbally insulted the other driver when she arrived at the scene and identified him as the suspect, is listed as testing 0.16 on a breathalyzer. He was charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license and violation of the financial responsibility law (no insurance), according to the Bedford County Jail intake, and DUI, according to the police report. He is out on $2,500 bond.
* A man who allegedly ran from an injury accident Friday night was charged after returning to the scene, police said.
Rodrigo Allende, 27, of Manchester was a passenger in a car involved in a collision with a vehicle driven by Herman Avery Love, 40, of Lewisburg on Madison Street near Krystal, reports indicate.
Brittany Love, identified by police as Herman Love's daughter, was taken to Heritage Medical Center for treatment.
Allende was charged with public intoxication and leaving the scene of an injury accident, Bedford County Jail records show. He is being held on $6,000 bond.
Herman Love was charged with DUI after a breath test of 0.15 and allegedly failing field sobriety tests, police said. Love posted $1,500 bond.
Thefts
Two thefts were reported Friday to Shelbyville police.
* Tools were removed from a bag in the bed of a truck at a Couch Lane home.
* A cell phone was stolen from a counter in the kitchen at Chili's, North Main Street, between 11:20-11:30 p.m.
Fake bills
Counterfeit $20 bills were received by US Bank from deposits made Friday by Kroger and the Kangaroo convenience store on South Cannon Boulevard, police were told.
Drug arrests
* Marijuana was confiscated from a vehicle fitting the description of one reported for possible drunk driving Saturday, police said.
The substance and drug paraphernalia were found in a bag behind the driver's seat and front console and in the clothing of driver Shelby Tyson, 18, Landers Street, police said. She had been stopped for driving 41 mph in a 30 mph zone, the report said.
"Large amounts" of marijuana seeds were in the front seats, the report said.
Tyson was charged with possession of schedule VI drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of the drinking age law, speeding 21 mph over limit and driving on a revoked license. She was released on $4,000 bond
A passenger, Cherine Denise Ray, 18, Stonefield Circle, was charged with violation of the drinking age law and posted $1,000 bond.
* Drugs were found in a car searched by police after a traffic stop Saturday night, police said.
Officers said 14 1/2 bars of Alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug, were found in a purse belonging to Danica Danielle Johnson, 19, Madison Street. Johnson did not have a prescription for the drug, police said.
Johnson, who police stopped for driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Madison Street, allegedly refused permission for a vehicle search. Drug dog Remy alerted on the car's exterior and then was placed inside where an open container of vodka, two cups of Sparks energy/alcoholic drink and three six-packs of Sparks were found, police said.
Charges of possession of a legend drug, open container and underage possession of alcohol were filed against Johnson, who was released on $2,500 bond.
Suspect arrested
A Shelbyville man police say ran away after crashing into a truck while speeding away from a traffic stop Sept. 4 has been arrested, according to the Bedford County Sheriff's Department.
Darius Deonte Lewis, 19, Anthony Lane, was taken into custody at a Bethany Lane home Saturday. He is charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license when found.
Lewis was pulled over behind a North Main Street convenience store by Shelbyville police officer Jerry Lawrence for allegedly driving with his car's headlights off after dark. As Lawrence approached the car on foot, Lewis allegedly sped away on Fairfield Pike.
Lawrence said he drove in the direction Lewis went and came across the wreck at the intersection of Blue Ribbon Parkway, Gowen Drive and Evans Street.
Witnesses who identified Lewis to police said he ran from the scene.
