Suspect indicted in 2007 incident

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

It took less than an hour for the Bedford County grand jury to indict seven on a variety of charges Monday, including a Franklin County man for a break-in two years ago.

Adam Keith Stewart, 26, of Huntland was indicted on charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. He is free under $10,000 bond and is represented by Shelbyville attorney John Norton.

According to Detective Brian Farris of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, Stewart was identified as a suspect in a Jan. 31, 2007, home invasion at a Thompson Creek Road home.

A woman at the home told authorities at the time she was sleeping when she heard someone kick open the front door. She got out of bed and "a man came down the hallway with a rifle and put it to her head," and repeated obscenities, she said.

Two small children were in the home at the time of the break-in, the report also read.

Also indicted on Monday were:

* Tiffany Harden, 31, delivery of schedule II, simple possession of schedule VI.

* Djuan Lamel Hill, 27, sale of schedule II (five counts), delivery of schedule II (five counts) counterfeit controlled substance (three counts), possession of schedule II for resale, possession of schedule II for resale.

* Jason Lee Mears, 33, DUI (fourth offense), driving on revoked (eighth offense), violation of implied consent.

* Travis Eugene Miller, 25, habitual traffic offender.

* Evaristo Ramirez, 27, aggravated statutory rape (two counts).

* Charles Michael Reed, 40, DUI (fourth offense), driving on revoked (seventh offense), violation of implied consent.

Jason Lee Mears, 33, DUI (fourth offense), Charles Michael Reed, 40, DUI (fourth offense),

Is it just me, or are others fed up with a system that allows these people to continually put our families at risk. When are our laws going to require that these people do hard time in a state facility after their second offense. Upon a third offense the car being driven should be confiscated by the state and auctioned off and the proceeds go to a victims fund for people that have lost loved ones or have been injured by a drunk driver. I don't care who's car they were driving unless it was stolen. This sickens me, having lost friends to drunk drivers. IT'S TIME TO STOP THIS NOW.
