Wallet stolen from unlocked car

A wallet was stolen from an employee's unlocked car at Sonic Drive-In, North Main Street, between 6:30 p.m. Monday and shortly after midnight Tuesday, the Shelbyville Police Department said.

The wallet contained $500 and a diamond ring valued at $300 in addition to personal cards and documents, police said.

Suspect in custody

A man who didn't show up for an earlier court case is in Bedford County Jail today, but not without putting up a fuss in Rutherford County.

Jimmy Martin Patterson, 41, attacked two Rutherford County deputies as they tried to arrest him at his Murfreesboro home Saturday, Capt. Tony Barrett of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department said.

The deputies were serving a contempt of court warrant for not appearing for a child custody case, Barrett said.

Patterson is being held on $100,000 bond.
