Lady Rockets explode on Viqs in 2nd half

Friday, September 25, 2009

Allyse Reece's goal shortly into the second half brought Community even with host Forrest at 1-all on Thursday night.

The Lady Rockets showed their offensive firepower shortly thereafter, erupting for five goals in a 27-minute span to win 6-1.

Forrest got four goals from Anna Wiser and two more from Taylour Allen.

The loss dropped the Viqueens to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in District 11-A/AA.

Community hits the road again for another district match versus Huntland on Tuesday at 4:30.

Donelson Christian 4, Webb 0: In Nashville, the Lady Feet got eight saves from goalkeeper Caroline Smith, but it wouldn't be enough.

"We played real well in the first half and had 3-4 opportunities that just didn't get (a goal)," Webb coach Adrian Anderson said.

"Overall good performance, just got to take advantage of opportunities when you get them."

The Lady Wildcats led 1-0 at intermission and doubled that advantage after being rewarded with a penalty kick on a handball in the box in the 65th minute. A pair of misdirected shots turned into goals to account for the final score.

Webb (6-3, 1-2 East/Middle Region) welcome Cannon County to Lagler Field in Bell Buckle on Tuesday for a match at 5:30.
